"Special Weapons and....Tentacles?" - 12/11/2006

"Special Weapons And ....Tentacles?"
12/11/2006

This one started off in school. High school, I’d say. I was sitting at the front of the class and there was a brotha' in the next row - one seat back - that kept talking shit to me, over my shoulder. I was doing my best to just ignore him, but then he finally stuck out his leg and kicked my chair, to get my attention. I had a Mountain Dew on my desk, and it fell off and spilled all over the floor.

Finally, I got up and walked around to the side of his desk where he could actually stand up. As I came around his row, he stared at me like he was just waiting for me to start something. (Pretty big dude too. Kind of looked like Terrell Owens with facial hair and not quite as much muscle) I could also see, before I got to him, that he was holding a pencil in his right hand, discretely, like it was a shank.

I stopped right next to him and said something like “What the F*CK is your problem?!” I can’t even remember what he said, because my attention was on the pencil (even though my eyes were locked on his, acting like I hadn’t seen it). Before long, he jumped up at me and stabbed the pencil at the side of my neck. I caught his forearm in both hands and tried to bend it around behind his back, but couldn’t, because his back was still facing his desk and I couldn’t get behind him. I think I pushed down on the inside of his elbow to force his arm to bend and started pushing his hand, with the pencil in it, up toward his own throat. Whatever happened, he ended up submitting after seeing that, had I wanted to, I could have pushed the pencil into his neck.

In a huff, he sat back down, and I walked back to my chair and sat down too. The girl who was sitting directly behind me was obviously friends with the other guy, and she was talking all kinds of bull, about how the guy didn’t do anything, and how I’m a shit-starter, and all that. I told her that he kicked my chair and spilled my drink, and she kept denying it, like she was trying to protect him, or something. Eventually, I just ended up ignoring the both of them.

We had this really cool teacher (whom I don’t recognize from waking life) and, pretty soon, the class became something like a big rec room. We were listening to music and a bunch of us had put our desks together and were playing cards. The guy who'd started shit with me, a while earlier, came up to me, apologized, and introduced himself. His name was Marcus, if I remember correctly. I don’t remember the reason he gave for being such an ass, earlier, but he was remained pretty cool, from this point, on.

Our teacher also showed us this new art medium, where he had this large board that was made out of Styrofoam, or something. You'd drop a couple drops of whatever color paint you want to use, over a given area, and then trace your finger back and forth, to smear the paint. While this was occurring, this “special board” would actually draw in the details that you’re visualizing in your mind, using whatever colors you’d spread over the area. It was dope. We all got together and did a huge landscape, drawn from above, adding a few layers of the foam to make texture like mountains and houses.

I also remember dropping a bag of grass on the ground, in the classroom, and hoping my teacher didn’t find it.

The dream shifted, and we were all, suddenly, in a dance club, even though it was still in the middle of the day. After a while, a bunch of SWAT members, in full riot gear, busted in and raided the place. Within the chaos, when no one else seemed to notice, one of the cops lifted up his helmet and I could see that he, clearly, wasn’t human. He had a green face with a tentacle-beard, like Davey Jones, from "Pirates of the Caribbean 2." None of these cops were human. There was a bit of a fight, and one of them ended up shooting me in the thigh, before we were all subdued. I could tell it was a small caliber, because it was merely like a bee sting – more annoying and irritating than excruciating. I remember yelling out something like “What the hell was THAT? A .22 or something?!! F*ck!” and was taken outside, holding my leg, obviously more upset with how much it stung than over the fact that they'd shot me, in the first place.

The dream went into some long scenario explaining this “alien” invasion that ended up in a huge castle/mansion on top of a mountain, at night. I don’t remember much of this part, but I do remember being on a huge cliff, and we were being attacked by this massive tentacle-monster like the Kraken from 'Pirates' (I haven’t ever even seen that movie. Wonder why I have so many elements from it.)

Anyway, this creature was HUGE. A couple of us had gotten too close and were trapped beneath this beast (which was a freaking disgusting feeling – having all these rubbery tentacles and suckers rolling and undulating over top of me) and I remember thinking how we should be dead, simply by the weight of this thing pressing down on us. I was able to pry myself back out, and we continued fighting it. At one point, I saw one of the girls in our group getting lifted up by one of the tentacles, by her leg, and dropped down into the mouth of this monster and eaten.

Also (which was probably the strangest thing about this whole dream), once we got away from the 'land-kraken', there was this guy, who just kinda showed up, that none of us knew. I can’t remember where we ran into him, but he obviously knew a lot about these aliens and had some interstellar connections. He took us to a place, within the castle/mansion, where he said he could get ahold of some sort of backup, or something. There was a ceiling-less room with a large door in the ground. This guy pulled open the door/hatch and jumped in. Once I was close enough to look down inside, I discovered that there was a sprawling machine that was hidden in the floor. As the machine began winding up, it struck me that it looked like a giant chamber on a revolver. It spun, a time or two, and then fired an intense shot into the air, like a cannon. My eyes could barely follow a streak of light as it flew out of the machine and disappeared, up into the stars. It was - I'd deduced - an apparent teleportation device, and the stranger had just transported himself light-years away.

In a matter of seconds, we spotted what looked like a distant star, getting bigger and brighter. It turned into that familiar streak of light and fell out of the sky, landing a few yards away. The guy had just teleported back. I can’t remember if he'd brought troops or weapons back with him, though, or whatever might have been the outcome of his off-world jump, as his arrival was the last thing I could recall.

"Parasite Fae" - 05/22/2022

"Parasite Fae"
05/22/2022

The earliest thing I can remember, from this dream, was witnessing an attack on a small group of people, in an alley. I wasn't actually a part of this group, but I was right there with them, even though I didn't seem to be the target of the assailants, until I started trying to help fend them off. The attackers were a feral gang of masked goons. The way they moved kind of reminded me of the Reapers from "Blade II."

Eventually, one of the people I'd attempted to save intervened, in kind, and took on the entire gang. He or she swung an arm out, and long, squid-like tentacles splayed out from within the sleeves, overpowering the attackers and causing those who could still stand to turn away in retreat. I can't remember how badly, but I had been wounded in the fight and - in what I first thought was a gesture of thanks, but turned out to be a kidnapping by force - gathered me up and escorted me back to their home.

The strangers resided in some hidden, underground lair - reminiscent of the hideout of the Morlocks from "The Gifted" (which we'd been watching, lately). There, within a chamber that seemed to be a makeshift laboratory, they 'introduced' to 'their Queen, Fae,' which, they'd said, was somehow related to the mythical "faeries" that we all know from legends and...well...fairytales. To my surprise, though, this "Queen," they spoke of, turned out to be a sentient mass of tangled, shapeless tissue, about the size of a basketball - like something out of John Carpenter's "The Thing." It squelched its way over to me and moved around me, in close proximity, as if silently studying me. Then, without any warning, the 'Thing' darted at me and latched on, its tendrils burying itself into my skin and, apparently, fusing with me.

Almost immediately, I developed a sort of psychic link with this creature - which spoke with a female voice. It began to tell me about its kind, and about how all of the "strangers" in this lair all had the same sort of parasitic relationships with her species, but that she was potentially the most powerful, which is why they saw her as their queen. The longer that these beings "fed" on their hosts, she explained, the more they would be able to resemble humans, themselves. She also said that she found me 'fascinating,' specifically, and that she would be using me as her vessel - whether I wanted her to or not.

What followed was a long, disturbing jumble of fleeting memories of her "taking over" my body, whenever she was attached to me, and using me as a sort of vehicle, to battle the Reaper-like gang from earlier, who were, apparently, rivals to these extraterrestrial creatures. Whenever we would clash, I would use the same tentacled types of attacks that the person had been using, from earlier in the dream - my arms bursting into long, gnarled strands of fleshy tissue that ensnared our victims and tore them apart, graphically - mercilessly - tearing them limb from limb in bloodbath after bloodbath. (It felt very "Tetsuo" from the anime "Akira.") Over time - the more and more that I was used as a tool for her vengeance - she would begin to transform into more of a human appearance, even when some portion of her always remained attach to me, as if I was sprouting a conjoined twin whenever she decided to speak verbally, which she'd developed the ability to do.

There was one moment, where my fiance showed up, and "Fae" transformed into the likeness of a toddler, running around near my feet, in order to hide her true form and the physical connection that always had to remain between us, in order to keep a humanoid form. Naturally, though, my fiance became inquisitive about the unfamiliar child who was clinging so comfortably to me and, after a round of prodding questions, Fae finally got fed up at the interrogation and did a grotesque, horrific transformation, back into a full-sized adult woman, completely abandoning the disguise and revealing who and what she was.

Eventually, Fae had learned that her "nemesis," was using a large corporation as a front, and he could be found at its headquarters. Prepared to put an end to their ongoing war, we showed up to the facility with intent to take down this 'Boss' of sorts. While we made our way into the building, and up to the main office / penthouse, where this kingpin was supposed to be hanging out, my view switched to a disembodied perspective and showed the outside of the building from the air. From there, I could see the massive fountain at the entrance and, within the fountain, I could see the gigantic silhouette of a fish-like monster swimming around, beneath the surface of the water.

Before long, I was back in a first-person view, just as I was walking into the penthouse. I (along with the parasite attached to my body) searched around for wherever this 'person' might be. There didn't seem to be anyone even remotely nearby, on this entire floor, and I was just beginning to get the feeling that we'd been led here, deceptively.

Suddenly, a large silhouette appeared in the window, just before a loud crash as broken glass streamed into the expansive office. The giant fish monster, from the fountain - about the size of an 18-wheeler - had flown up from the ground floor and burst through the window, crushing the owner's desk and taking up a good portion of the room, as it landed. It flopped around, violently (as one might expect a gigantic fish out of water to do), trying its hardest to swallow me whole. Using my parasitic tendrils to fight back, I was able to defend myself just long enough to escape the penthouse and make my way back down through the building. Once I got down to the ground level, though, the giant fish plummeted to the ground in front of me, having jumped from the top floor, in pursuit. Immediately, the fish monster spun around, in place, transforming in the same, disgusting, visceral way that 'Fae' changed shape, and it became an enormous, hulking, torso of a bald man. Apparently, this was Fae's nemesis, and he had the ability to transform, as well. Only a moment after revealing its oversized, human form, the monstrous figure turned around, again, twisting and contorting its limbs and flesh to become a giant alien head with an elongated cranium and rows about rows of sword-like teeth - each about as big as my own body.

The last thing I remember is a pretty balls-out battle against this shape-shifting monster, using my tentacles as whips and spears, with Fae - at some point - taking about half of her humanoid form and fighting as an almost 'second' person, beside me.

"Darkseid is Coming" - 11/26/2021

"Darkseid is Coming..."
11/26/2021

I was part of a group of young-adult superheroes, and we were based on an oil rig, out at sea. Apparently, my power was that of super strength, and I'm not sure if all of the others in my group were DC Comics heroes, but I know that we were a world where Superman had been long-since considered dead. We had received word that the supervillain Darkseid was preparing to invade the planet, and we were doing everything we could to prepare for the inevitable attack.

The initial encounter, though, would prove to be a psychological one.

While his ships were approaching the Earth from beyond the stars, Darkseid, himself, was already far ahead, unleashing strong, telepathic attacks on each of us, at random time intervals. Every now and then, we would hear our voice in our heads, or see his visage looming in the shadowy corners of our compound. There was one point, where I was walking through a tight corridor, and when I looked over to one side, I could see a gigantic projection of Darkseid, standing in a far corner with his arms folded behind him. He was so large and imposing that this telepathic manifestation had to hunch over, in order to keep from being stifled by the ceiling. Despite his size, the thing that left the greatest impression was the haunting, crimson glow of his eyes against the darkness within the room.

This psychic torment was running rampant over my team, sending most of us to the borderline of complete breakdown, because there was no way of getting him out of our heads. There was an early, physical attack on the compound, by his underlings (though I don't know if they were his parademons). We made light work of them, but during the skirmish, one of our members went murderously savage and began taking on the rest of the team. Almost simultaneously, we'd gotten the alarm that the full-scale invasion was kicking off, on the other side of the island off of which we were stationed. The leader (and strongest) of our team was a lightning-based character who seemed very Thor-inspired, in terms of physicality. He decided to have us split up, so that a group of us could work on taking down our formidable, brainwashed ally, while he and the others went to engage with the invasion. There were at least a dozen of us, in total, and it took nearly half of us to subdue our teammate and to, then, talk him down from his rampage by appealing to his emotional side and reminding him of the strong bond that we all had within our group.

After he was free of Darkseid's mental influence, we all dashed off of the rig and to the island, to join the rest of our group in battle.

We made our way over the water, by various means, and approached a large, unfamiliar temple that was settled on the coast. Upon our arrival, and after searching desperately for our team, we began to find the liquified remains of some of them, scattered around the temple grounds - one of them, after I'd tripped down an embankment and landed, on my hands and knees, in what I initially thought was a puddle of mud but turned out to be an ankle-deep pile of entrails and excrement.

After moments of sheer terror, I became completely enraged at this discovery.

We continued our search for any of the others who were left, and made our way into the temple, which seemed more like the inside of a theme park attraction in its set up. I believe there was, actually, a coaster-type ride that snaked through the halls of the temple, as well, but I don't remember much of it.

Finally, we found Darkseid. He was standing, motionless and unbothered, with his back to us, apparently having just been waiting for us to show up. He began to make it clear that the mental attack on our teammate upon the oil rig was a rouse, in order to split up our forces so that he could more easily have access to our strongest, Thor-like member, who he'd planned to take under his control, as well. We, then, saw a platform being lowered, nearby, showing our leader being bombarded with rays of energy, as he struggled against them, obviously trying his hardest to resist the psychic onslaught from taking him over.

Initially unsuccessful, though, our leader launched himself off of the platform and brought down a vicious attack on what remained of our team. An absolutely insane battle ensued (of which I can't remember many of the details), and it spilled out of the temple and into the city streets of the developed, modernized island. We were toppling buildings and causing unimaginable damage while fighting the head of our team, with Darksied just tagging along and watching the fray, for the most part.

Eventually, though, we were able to break the psychic hold, just as we did with our earlier ally, focusing on the bond between us and the damage that Darkseid had already caused to our unit. Through no small feat of willpower, our leader was able to break free of the enhanced brainwashing from the interstellar villain...and he was pissed at having been made a vessel for Darkseid's dark power.

Instantly forgiven - by myself and the rest of our crew - for anything that might have transpired, leading up to this point, our head guy joined forces with us, once again, and we rushed Darkseid with everything we had. Again, the battle was epic. Darkseid was just beastly, in his power and character. Enraged, himself, at our 'daring' to thwart his plan, he fought against us ruthlessly, taking on a sort of 'street slang' in his dialect, as if he had been from New York, or something, instead of from outer space. It was really jarring but, for some reason, just made him all the more scary.

In time, though, we had begun to overpower him. The last part of the battle, that I can remember, was Darkseid having been pinned on his back, in the middle of a destroyed city street. Our leader and I were raining down tandem attacks on the invader. I was standing over top of his downed body, and the other hero would blast him with a maxed-out surge of energy. Then, in the moments between blasts, just as Darkseid finished screaming in electrified agony and began to try to lift himself from the ground, I would drop the hardest punches I could muster down upon his chest and face, smashing him over and over and driving him further into the shattering concrete beneath him, with every blow. The chorus of Darkseid's screams, the repetitive cracks of thunder and the shockwave-inducing booms from each of my ground-and-pound punches were echoing all throughout the city, and it's the last thing I can remember from the fight.

The last thing I remember from the dream, itself, though, was a "stinger-type" of clip - as if it were a post-credit scene, after a movie - of some random, industrial rubble being lifted high into the air. (Maybe the oil rig, from before?) The further it was raised, the more clearly I could see the red and blue figure that was holding it up over his head, proving to us that Superman was, in fact, not dead, and he was back to help us defeat Darkseid, once at for all.

(Just an all-out incredible battle. This dream was both psychologically terrifying, and so satisfyingly action-packed. The kind of dream after-which you wake up and just say...."whoa." I had a blend of mugwart and ginkgo before bed, that night, which I'd been experimenting with, periodically, for the last few weeks, and my dream activity has been pretty much off the charts. Lots more dream entries to come, from over the last couple of months. Just been a little too busy, over the holiday system, to write them all out, in full!)

"She was a Teenage Robot" - 11/25/2008

"She Was a Teenage Robot"
11/25/2008

I was with Tony* and a few others, seemingly from my old JROTC days. There was some sort of military procession going on, and we were all standing up to a huge mirror, getting decked out in some dress blues. There was this really sweet, mousy girl that we’d met, who had been really depressed, before meeting us, because she’d had a rough childhood and didn’t really have anybody that cared about her. We were all especially accepting of her, and she began warming up to us - especially to me. There was one particular time, after this military event, where we were all just hanging out in someone’s house, late at night, and watching T.V. The girl had curled up beside me, and she was practically in tears, telling us all how happy she was that we were all friends, and about how much she loved us.

Time passed, and something had happened, where the whole world had been turned upside down, so to speak. We were, now, out in some huge, deserted field, in the aftermath of what I believe it was some kind of alien attack. Whatever it had been, something had destroyed a large part of the planet, leaving nothing but desolation. Among the unfolding events, it turned out that the young girl had somehow been transformed into a giant robot, some 50-feet tall. She didn’t even look human, anymore – just a huge pile of scraps that just barely resembled a bipedal being. We were still able to talk to her and, initially, she was just absolutely devastated, because she could no longer fit in with people and considered herself even more of an outcast than she used to. However, we kept comforting her and letting her know that we still considered her a friend, even though she was a giant robot. Slowly, she began to come around, and we were able to get her help (we, being the human race, and she, being a giant weapon, such as in 'The Iron Giant') in fighting the remnants of the alien attack. I know there was a massive battle, but I can’t say that I remember any of it.

"Invasion Evasion" - 12/06/2010 (Lucid)

"Invasion Evasion"
12/06/2010
(Lucid)

(I watched the movie Skyline, for the first time, last night. It was an 'ok' movie, but the visual effects were tight as hell.) The earliest thing I remember was being in a camp-like atmosphere, with a few friends, in a trailer. Someone had a dog - like a lab-mix, or something - and I was playing with her, rubbing her belly. After a short while, the dog began to get really agitated and started glaring at the door. A horrific situation then unfolded, where a person had come to the door and then turned into an alien, and we all had to escape the trailer. I believe we pushed the creature into the bonfire and burned it, but this part of my memory all really hazy.

Sometime after the confrontation, I was alone and running through the streets. This had turned out to be a full-on invasion, and the major attack had already begun. There were larger aliens - dozens of stories tall - walking amongst the buildings and roadways. The city was completely destroyed, by now, and no matter where I went or tried to hide, these things would always find me. The creatures that were too big to fit inside the buildings, would send out these long tentacles (like the ones in the movie), and snake them through the buildings to find me. I ended up dying, over and over, in this dream. Every time the tentacles would find me, they would either pull me back into the main body of the alien, or just splatter me all over the place, wherever I had been hiding.

After respawning a couple of times, I knew I could not remain here, and that I had to get out of the city, so I began to make a bee-line toward the edge of town. I sprinted as long and as hard as my body would allow me - and I remember being able to run for what seemed like miles, without losing steam. However, these tentacles were relentless. An alien could shoot the tentacles from its "hand", and the rope-like appendages would travel to endless distances through the air, to chase their target. As before, I died quite a few more times, while trying to escape the city; simply respawning again at the beginning and continuing to run, taking another route.

There were times that I would try to steal cars, and some of them would have this "gunk" on them. Whenever I drive those cars, the "gunk" would begin to spread around the outside of the vehicle, trying to 'cocoon' the vehicle in this alien sludge. I would see this happening and have to bail out of the car, before the sludge completely encased me inside. What's more, is that some of these droplets of "gunk" would occasionally spring to life and form whole aliens - each maybe 10 feet tall and built like bipedal elephants - which would then join the chase. Running from these things kind of felt like maneuvering through the video game Prototype.

It was like I was the only person in the city, and this entire alien force was centered on me, the whole time. There were just so many of them, and I was beginning to feel hopeless. After having to repeat this scenario, over and over, upon each death, I just wasn't feeling very confident that I would ever get out of this Hell. Suddenly, thankfully, just as despair was kicking in, I realized that this all had to be a dream. I was still on the run, though, as these things just weren't letting up, and anytime they would catch me, they would just annihilate me before I could do anything about it. Still respawning after each death, I took to flying, instead of running. It took me a little while to get up to speed, in my flying, as this dream was very vivid, and I was having a hard time manipulating it. I tried some telekinesis on the pursuing tentacles, but I wasn't able to affect them.

Once I got the hang of flying, though, the flight/chase sequences were absolutely sick. The easiest way I knew to keep my speed up, was to imagine myself as a missile. The thing was, though, that these tentacles were just as fast, so just because I could fly, didn't mean that I was getting out of the city an easier. I was empowered by my lucidity, though, and I was more having fun with it than frantically fleeing for my life, as I had been before. I weaved through the city at breakneck speed, an expanding trail of tentacles, following closely behind me. It was one of those zigging, zagging, dizzying, high-technicality chases that you would see in any major, sci-fi blockbuster - just screaming through the sky, with impossible agility. Sometimes I would land on the street, to gain my bearings - pivoting and then launching off in another direction, just as the tentacles whipped passed me and then arced around to follow once again. I remember being chased at just the same height of some of the tallest rooftops, and then dropping toward the ground, head first, to try to throw off the oncoming appendages.

Eventually, I was going so fast that there was a single moment, where I worried about 'what happens if I'm not able to pull up, in time?' Even though I knew that I was dreaming, I wasn't really looking forward to slamming headfirst, into the street, so I immediately changed trajectory before landing, nearly skimming the ground and then continuing to rocket down the street with the tentacles still keeping pace at every twist and turn. I also recall that the aliens could talk, and that they all spoke with the same voice - as if it were a collective consciousness - which had a tone that reminded me something of the Joker, from The Dark Knight.

I don't really remember whether or not I ever made it out of the city, even after becoming lucid. I don't think so, though

"UFO, EMP, WTF" - 01/13/2011

"UFO, EMP, WTF."
 01/13/2011

I had been hanging out with a few friends. JH was there, and there were a couple of girls along with us. We'd spent most of the night just partying and getting into a lot of shit we weren't supposed to be. I remember being in a garage, sitting in the passenger seat of a car, and one of the girls from the back seat slithered up front to sit on my lap. Looking back, though, I can't say that this was a girl that I actually knew in waking life.

Later, we were supposed to be headed to a house party but, when we got there, it was completely abandoned. It was the middle of the night, and there were still a couple of cars outside, even though there was apparently nobody home. Ultimately, not caring that the place was deserted, we all just decided to hang out there, anyway, and have our own little party. So, we started just hanging out and getting hammered in the abandoned home. The whole thing seemed completely wrong, though. Everything was dark and ominous, and the house itself had a really run-down, horror movie type of feel to it, as if it was a cross between the Bates Motel (Psycho) and Springwood High School (A Nightmare on Elm Street). Even though we were trying to disregard it - and having a grand ol' time doing so - there was still this foreboding feeling that we just shouldn't be there.

After some period of time, we were all outside. The house was somewhat in the sticks, and even though there was a least one neighbor nearby, there were acres and acres of open land around us. Suddenly, in the dead of night, we heard the electronic whir of some sort of aircraft above us. We looked overhead and there was a small cluster of about three spot lights beaming down, through the clouds, and sweeping over the house and surrounding area. The machine was hovering, just too high above the mist for us to make out its shape. Still, it was easy to see that it was like nothing I'd ever witnessed. Just as suddenly, a convoy of military vehicles roared onto the scene, tearing through the grassy field beside us, and apparently chasing the flying vehicle, which had shifted off to the clearing behind the house. There was something huge going on, and we weren't even sure if we were allowed to be on this property. We figured that it would probably be best to get the Hell out of the area, before the military decided to come back, and 'interrogate' any witnesses. However, when we tried to start the cars, they were all dead. Everything electronic was dead. Initially, we figured, that thing in the sky had triggered some kind of EMP, and that we were now stranded. (Didn't realize that this didn't explain how the military was able to drive in across the field. Oh well.)

The next thing I knew, it was the following morning. I vaguely remember waking up in a friend's car. We were trying to leave again, and this time, the car actually started. The only thing left was for me to check my car...which was nowhere to be found. I exploded into panic, jumping out of the car and scoping around for mine. JH suggested that I might have parked it around back, with some of the others (and, now that I think of it, I don't even remember having my car, at the beginning of the dream, so this panic attack I was having was completely nonsensical. Haha.). I went around the side of the house, and into the back yard. There were a a few cars back there, but most of them looked run down, and mine was nowhere in sight. I'd gone back around to the front of the house and found the rest of the group in the garage. They were tending to the girl who had been with JH, and she was, apparently, very sick. She had these mysterious bruises that just showed up, all over her body, and there was suddenly blood all over the portion of the car where she was sitting, which was unmistakably hers. Everybody was freaking out, because this girl was visibly getting worse, by the moment. I was immediately reminded of the parasitic vines in the movie The Ruins, and I couldn't help but think that this girl had them crawling around beneath her skin. If she was somehow infected with these parasites, we were all in grave danger, and we had to get out of there. Like Now.

There simply wasn't enough room for all of us to drive off in the only car that we had (there seemed to be more of us there than when we arrived), so I knew we needed some other mode of transportation. I ran back around to the rear side of the house and started looking for a car that might actually start. There was a really dope-looking, customized Camaro, but it turned out to be a complete junker that simply didn't run. Another car, which seemed suitable from afar, suddenly morphed into a child's Power Wheels type of toy, as I got closer. Finally, I came across another car, which looked a lot like mine, except that it was a convertible and a different color. We somehow got it started, piled ourselves into both vehicles, and drove away to try to get some medical attention for the girl's presumably alien affliction.

That's all I remember.

"Infestation" - 10/24/2007 (FA+Lucid)

"Infestation"
10/24/2007
Dream #3
(False Awakening)
(Lucid)

I woke up (from the previous dream) in a false awakening, idly looking beside me and noticing that I still had the bubble gum packet in my hand. I was like "WTF?! I brought this out of the dream world?!" (... ) I didn't even realize that this had to be a false awakening. Tearing open the packet and thinking I would find some hashish (as I had, in the previous dream), I was pretty disappointed to find...chocolate. Nothing but little squares of chocolate.

I turned around to face the rest of my room and noticed that fellow DreamViews member and friend, TwoShadows, was there, just sitting on a chair and watching TV. Again, I didn't even realize that this was weird, and we just started talking and watching whatever program was on, as I continued to lay in the bed. Suddenly, I felt this searing pain in my leg. It felt like a fire-ant bite, but it was moving, traveling slowly around my leg. I reached down and smacked whatever it was, flicking it off of me. Looking down at the ground, I saw this tiny, dead, black ant. I said to myself "there is no way that this little thing caused that kind of pain. Black ants don't bite and ant bites are stationary, anyway." Just when I said this, I noticed something else on the floor, out of the corner of my eye. Before I could train my eyes onto what it was, I felt another searing pain in the palm of my hand. When I lifted my hand, there was this odd, little, disc-shaped bug, with legs like tree roots and with green and orange markings on its back, walking across it. Everywhere its "feet" touched was like fire touching my skin. I freaked out and brushed the thing off of me. When I looked back at the floor, I saw two more - then four more. I felt another pain on my leg and jumped out of my bed. TS was on a chair that barely touched the ground, so I figured that she'd be alright, for the short time that it took me to run to the bathroom and make sure these damn things weren't all over me.

In the bathroom, I brushed myself down with a towel and found two of them. These two were, easily, four times the size of the other ones, and they were absolutely alien-looking. I smashed them both and looked at my hand and leg. There were these bulbous, purple welts that were already sticking up. I was still in some serious pain, but knew I had to get TS out of the room. Just when I stepped out of the bathroom, she yelled something like "Something just bit the Hell out of me," stepping out, in the hallway and holding her arm. I said I didn't know what the hell these things were, but they were like nothing I've ever seen before. We both ran to the other side of the house, and I was about to get some sort of pesticide from under the kitchen sink, when my mom came running out of her room, too, holding her arm and saying "something just bit me!" Immediately, I realized that these things were all over the house. I also knew that there was something wrong about all of this.

As is customary, for when I have time to think, during a dire situation such as this, I started wondering whether or not this was a dream. Without doing any reality checks, to confirm it, I assumed this had to be a dream, and I just wanted the pain to stop. I took the hunch that this was an unreal situation, and made the gesture to open my waking world eyes, which succeeded in waking me up.

(When I woke up, my palm still stung. My leg still stung. It actually took a little while before the pain to go away, which made me wonder whether or not I was still dreaming. I did a few reality checks, though, and the mental pain subsided, leading me to believe that it was just sensory residue from the dream, which happens, from time to time. That dream was messed up, though. My skin has been crawling, the whole time I've been writing this journal entry.)

Space Rock Fairy - 02/26/2020 ( Lucid)

Space Rock Fairy
02/26/2020
Dream #1
(Lucid)

The first thing I remember is being at a pool party, some time around dusk. There were people both inside and outside the home, and things had started off fairly normally. This changed, though, when we were suddenly put on alert that there was a series of asteroids headed toward Earth, with projections of eminent impact. Not much longer had I received this news, than I realized that most of the people from the pool party had simply vanished. The few people left in the home told me that the others had escaped into an underground bunker and, apparently, we had been left behind.

From outside, a series of loud explosions began to shake the home. The asteroid bombardment had begun. I knew that this house would get flattened, and that I had to find some way to shield myself from the falling masses. Perhaps counter-intuitively, I ran outside. I was as if bombs were detonating across the neighborhood, as the flaming rocks began to level the neighborhood. From where I was standing, and at the angle from which the asteroids were incoming, I could see that I might have a chance of blocking their trajectory, if I jumped into the pool and flattened myself against the forward-facing wall. There was no other shelter, around.

Having little time for doubt, I dove into the water, holding my breath and ducking against the wall of the pool. The asteroid onslaught continued around me, and I could hear them crashing onto the pool deck and see them falling into the water, just out of reach of me, the 6-to-8-foot wall providing the slightest bit of cover. I was, however, running into another problem. I was running out of breath, and I knew I couldn't stay here, forever. (I am a recreational free-diver, and I can hold my breath for a good while, but that wasn't going to help me, in this situation.)

Luckily, just as I was weighing the necessity of me coming out of hiding, in order to breathe, I realized that I already could breathe! I immediately knew that I was dreaming. No longer fearing the asteroid catastrophe, I crawled out of the pool and stood on the deck, looking up at the sky. The asteroids were still raining down, and I could see that they looked very polished and low-res - almost 'video game-like'. Reaching my hands up, and focusing my mind, I began deflecting away the asteroids with telekinesis, causing them to either break apart, on impact with the invisible barrier over my head, or to spin off course, missing me and the house, and crashing somewhere else in the neighborhood.

By this time, the pool party-goers were starting to re-emerge, many of them crowding around the pool to watch me fight off the asteroids. It was then, that I saw a winged creature - similar to a moth, but about the size of a small dog - come frantically spiraling down from the same direction of the falling rocks. It flew around the yard, erradically, and I, still aware this was a dream, was fascinated by it. I ran after it and caught it in my hands, wrestling with the creature as it tried to escape my grasp. Though I knew I had nothing to fear, just holding this wriggling, squirming, giant insect in my hands was rather disturbing, but I held on, nonetheless.

On the patio, nearby, I found a large container made out of a kind of glass or transparent plastic, and I was able to trap the creature inside. It fluttered within, with such a force that it broke one of the side panels, but before it could escape, I pushed back against the box with telekinesis and was able to keep it shut. The people gathered around this box and we just stared at this creature, watching it bounce around, inside. Curiousity was getting the better of me, and I began to wonder what this thing would say if it could talk. Softening any expectations I might have, I attempted to "will" the creature into speaking English, to see if it would communicate with us. My expectations were successfully subverted, as this thing turned into a full-on, apparently female, fairy.

Still small enough to fit in the box, the panicked fairy began shouting a warning to us: she said that she was an alien creature, and her very powerful father had been chasing her across the cosmos. If we didn't let her go, she said, her father would inevitably find her and, upon doing so, would likely destroy the planet, just out of spite. Of course, had this been any other scenario, I would have been terrified at this new development. However, since I was fully lucid, and feeling quite confident in my dream control, I thought this was awesome, and I couldn't wait to meet the guy!

Seconds later, a sleek, black object descended from the sky. It was a smooth, almost teardrop-shaped vessel, which slowly landed in the yard, just beside the pool. A ship. One side of the object opened up, and an enormous, shadowy-black figure emerged from within. He stood around 10 feet tall, and had red, glowing eyes, though I couldn't really make out any of his other features, even in the fading sunlight. (He reminded me a bit of the character Trigon, from DC's Titans, though as little more than a silhouette.)

Unfortunately, I started to lose lucidity, around here. I remember having a brief conversation with this "monster," and I was able to trick him into thinking that his daughter had passed up Earth and gone to some other planet. Sooner or later, he up and left, without incident. Upon his departure, the fairy came out of hiding, and the last thing I remember her saying was something about how pissed he was going to be, when he realizes he'd been duped and comes back around.

Last Night's Dream(s), in One Sentence - 2/26/2020

(Just trying a little something new, here on the blog. 😁

For those who are familiar with my Dreamwalker Chronicles Facebook page, you know that I often do "one sentence" summaries of current dreams, on the days that I have any that are noteworthy. Before now, they were all done in text format, but since I also have an Instagram art page, I've started setting those one sentence summaries against similar-themed pictures. In doing so, I decided I would give it a shot, here, as well!

These 3 dreams were actually from February 26th, so I'm a little late in posting them, but I'll try to keep them somewhat real-time (or close to it), from here on out!)

"Of Martians and Hit-Men" - 10/03/2019 (Lucid)

"Of Martians and Hit-Men"
10/03/2019
(Lucid)

The first thing I remember is being on a paved walking trail, with my g/f. We came to a set of train tracks, realizing that we'd passed our intended branch-off, a short while back. After turning back and heading in the other direction, I noticed that someone seemed to be following us, from far behind. Although suspicious, I knew that I had my gun with me, so we just continued walking, and the person, though going in the same direction, never really got any closer.

Sometime later, we were talking to the next door neighbor to the house where we'd intended to go (which was not my real house nor neighbor), while standing in his garage. We eventually said our goodbyes and went to walk back next door and, on the way, I noticed a woman sitting in one of the cars in "our" driveway, as if she was waiting for someone. While trying to figure out who she was, a man walked up behind us, effectively placing us between himself and the woman in the car, just as she opened the door and stepped out of it. I figured the man to be the person we'd noticed on the trail, and he revealed themselves to be a hit man / hit woman duo, who - for some reason - had us on contract.

The woman - easily the more "animated" of the two - was talking a whole lotta trash. Finger-pointing, and all - as if this were, somehow, personal. While she was talking, I was trying to think if there was any possible way I would be able to get a draw on them, but I know there was no way I would be able to catch them both without getting both me and my g/f shot.

While she was ranting, I noticed the neighbor walking, cautiously, up the driveway. Obviously sensing that something was wrong, he timidly asked if everything was ok. Knowing the hit-team had guns discretely trained on us, I was silently screaming for the neighbor to just turn around and walk away, but all I could manage was something like "Yeah, everything's ok. Don't worry about it," hoping that he'd just leave us alone and spare himself some potential fallout - which he did. Still with no feasible chance to draw and shoot my way out of this ambush, I was nearly resigned to being caught dead to rights. The hit man raised his gun, and it was then that I caught a glimpse of something over his shoulder.

A meteor? The fire trail streaking in the sky suggested so. Then, however, the object nearly stopped on a dime, instantly slowing to a point where the trail disappeared, leaving a small spot of light. This was followed by another fire trail, streaking to a crawl, beside it - and then another...and another. These were not meteors. These were Spaceships - an entire fleet of them - apparently dropping out of warp, having reached their earthly destination.

"ALIENS!!" I yelled, staring straight passed the barrel of the gun in my face. It was obvious that the hit man didn't believe me, and he was just on the verge of pulling the trigger. Now, completely ignoring the immediate danger before me, I raised a hand and pointed over his shoulder, deathly serious, yelling "WE'RE BEING F'CKING INVADED!!" My outburst was confirmed by an chorus of concussive blasts and gunfire, from around the street corner. A full-scale assault on the city broke out, as if someone had turned on a light-switch. Our would-be killers' hit job totally collapsed as our two groups instantly scattered to seek shelter. Then, the aliens came into view - seemingly from all directions, at once. They were robotic, bipedal beings with laser rifles and were just massacring people, everywhere, on the streets. It was utter chaos. Before I could do anything about it, they were converging on us and opening fire. Terrified and flinching from what I thought was, again, certain death, I realized that this could not really be happening. I had to be dreaming!

In this momentary rush of lucidity, I began indiscriminately ducking and dodging the incoming fire, pushing the thought of being harmed by anything, out of my mind. Feeling comfortable and in control with my state, I just flipped and spun away from their shots.

My lucidity didn't last very long, though, and I was sucked back into the narrative, running with my g/f, into a nearby school. Although it was night time, the inside of the school was bustling, with elementary school aged kids and adults roaming about, as if it were the middle of the day. Having drawn my gun, before coming in, I kinda kept it under my shirt, instead of putting it fully back in the holster. We shifted through the halls of the school and tried to escape the alien onslaught outside - for some reason, never alerting anyone to what was going. Of course, it didn't take long for the invasion to crash its way into the building, and the last thing I remember is a hazy shootout, while a squad of the alien machines just ripped though large numbers of innocent men, women and children inside the school.

"Genetically-enhanced Penguin" - 05/29/2007

"Genetically Enhanced Penguin"
5/29/2007
Dream #5

(This one was just weird and random.)

The first thing I remember is being in some type of laboratory. These people had either created or "enhanced" a young penguin that was lying in an incubator. Somehow, I got the job of taking care of this little guy, after he was done...incubating? (for lack of a better word).

Later, I was in an unfamiliar apartment complex. I don't know exactly where the penguin was, during this part but, before I knew it, Ice Cube (the rapper) showed up to hang out and sell me a bag of smoke. He was pitching how good this batch was, to me, and I picked up a bag and smelled it. It smelled really good, however, when I looked inside, I could see that there were little corn kernals mixed in with the buds. He said something about that having to do with the re-plant-ability of the buds and how it would grow into some super-strain or something, with the help of the corn kernals. Haha. Hilarious.

Without warning, some psychopath came barging into the apartment and just immediately opened fire on everyone inside. (There were like 6 of us in the apartment, at the time). He missed me, but I went down on the couch and played possum, until he was done with his rampage. When he was through, I saw him turn the gun on himself and shoot himself in the head. He went down, on the couch, right beside me.

I don't remember too much more about that scene, but I was soon taking the small penguin home, driving around in a convertible with some girl in the passenger seat. Suddenly, the penguin stood up straight - all alert - as if there was some trouble coming. Before we could figure out what it was doing, it immediately took off into the sky like a missle (I think he even had a vapor trail behind him. Haha.) and arced over the rooftops of the apartments that we were driving next to. I pulled the car to a stop and we could see a light show of explosions, behind the buildings. The explosions then detonated in succession, in a straight line, toward the front of the complex to our right, which was a few yards in front of us. When the blasts reached the end of the block, there was another large explosion as the penguin came smashing through one of the buildings like it was paper, and back onto the street we were parked on. The explosions, that we'd seen a few minutes ago, had been shockwaves from the penguin, running so fast that he was destroying the brick buildings as if they were made of glass.

He came running back toward us and passed us, moving toward this huge mound that was coming up out of the ground, behind us. From this concrete mound/mountain, a swarm of giant bugs that looked like the aliens from Starship Troopers came pouring out. Their front arms were equipped with these whip-like tendrils and they were just pretty f***ing nasty creatures. We ended up getting into an insane battle, with these things on this mountain. This penguin was just zipping all around us, and owning these bug-monsters like some sort of superhero.

Sometime during the mayhem, I remember hearing weird, disembodied laughter. I looked up at the sky and the moon was a giant smiley-face that was laughing, and it melted and fallen out of the sky, as soon as I looked up at it. The laughter continued, though, and I was wondering just where in the hell it was coming from, because it sounded so familiar. My perspective then changed, and my view was suddenly scaling the side of a building, getting closer and closer to the origin of the maniacal laughter. When it reached the top, I was staring into the face of the Joker (from Batman: The Animated Series) and he was just cracking up, watching us fight these bugs, from the rooftop.

I don't remember anything else.

"The Deep" - 12/06/2005

"The Deep"
12/06/2005

(I remember two dream scenarios from last night, though much of the detail has been lost since I had to hurry up and get here to work.)

The first dream was the most intense. It took place on some desolate, off-shore structure - like an oil rig, or something. There was a long sequence of exploring this mysterious, seemingly-abandoned place, though I don’t remember who was with me. Sometime later, we realized we were being hunted through this structure by these things the resembled Yautjas (Predator Aliens). There were a lot of close calls; almost getting caught and killed by these things. After a while, the only way away from them was to sneak my way to the outside of the rig and jump overboard.

Diving into the royal-blue waters of the middle of the ocean, with no land in sight, at All, I just began swimming as fast as I could, away from the rig. But, of course, it was a heavy case of 'out of the frying pan, and into the fire'. As I was swimming, I’d begun to realize that there was something in the water, with me.

Something Big….Something REAAALLY big.

Tentacles flew up around me; tentacles so large that they were each about as wide as a redwood, and so long that I could never see the full length of any of them. What made it even worse was that this wasn’t just an octopus or giant squid, that was trying to get me, this was a horrific and seemingly-mythical Sea Monster. It was attacking me from below, shooting its tentacles up over my head and trying to pull me down. At one point, it succeeded in crossing some of its tentacles over the top of me and dragging me down into the depths. While underwater, I could finally see this beast that was drawing me down further into the darkness, and yeah, he was an ugly sum’bitch. (Think of the creature in the movie Deep Rising. O.O!) The thing is: I have the distinct feeling that I got away from it, rather than being drawn all the way down and eaten…I just don’t know how.

"Assault and Batteries" - 04/22/2010

"Assault and Batteries"
04/22/2010

The first thing I remember from this dream was getting into a huge argument with some really arrogant chick. Out of nowhere, in the middle of our argument, she hauled off and hit me in the nuts with some kind of blunt object. The pain was excruciating. I fell to the ground, tensed up and trying as hard as I could not to succumb to the pain. I could not deny it, though. Every few seconds I would let out this guttural scream - waves of agony rippling all throughout my torso, as if someone had my balls in a vice and was giving the crank a quick, periodic twist (much like the way young Raizo reacted, in Ninja Assassin, when his teacher gave him that finger strike to the gut. It was seriously some of the worst pain I've ever felt in a dream.) After what seemed like forever, I was able to stagger to my feet. In a rage, I instinctively lunged at her. My only impulse (which was pretty inconsistent with my waking character) was to make this chick pay for attacking me in that way. Everyone in the crowd around us held me back, though. Still staving off the pain in my loins, I yelled and kicked and slung all kinds of obscenities at this girl, as a group of people dragged me away. One of the things I remember telling her was that she better not let me find her alone in the street. I was just utterly enraged and wanted to completely destroy this girl. Lol.

A little bit of time passed, and I stayed on the lookout for her, still seething. Finally, we just happened to pass each other, walking down a busy, city sidewalk one day. We didn't recognize each other until we were practically right beside one another. We both took a few more steps, before it actually registered, and then I spun around. The last thing I remember of this part is running toward her for an all-out attack. I don't actually remember what happened when I reached her, though. The next thing I knew, I was on a prisoner's compound. (Maybe I should have just let the b**** go! LOL) The penalty, for being in this 'death camp', was that we were made to survive these games in which we are hunted by various creatures. Indoors - and underground - this facility was very high tech. It had laboratories and security annexes; the works. Above ground, the facility looked more like a junk yard, or a post-apocalyptic compound of some sort. The prisoners were mostly made to stay above/outside, while we were observed by our captors, who remained in the other sectors.

First, we were made to fight Xenomorphs (from the Alien movie series). They chased us around the compound, in packs, and we had the little locator devices from the movies, which helped us keep track of where they were. We were not given weapons, though, and we had to simply survive, unarmed. Having endured the hunt, and once the attack from the xenos died down, I had figured that we were finished with our trial. Suddenly, a huge mech came around a corner. We all immediately scattered, and the mech fired a missile into the structure that we had been hiding behind, just moments before.

After the appearance of this mech, the shit really hit the fan, and we found ourselves running from even more mechs, robots, and all kinds of other "Terminator"-type technology. We all decided to take the fight down into the bowels of the facility and broke back into the base. The killer robots followed us inside, and we played a really intense game of cat and mouse, within. We were also able to locate the robots with the same locators that we used for the xenomorphs. Being one of the only remaining survivors, I traveled deeper and deeper into this enormous facility. I eventually came across a large community of other (relatively) 'innocent' people, who were living down in some of the furthest levels from the surface. There were men and women of all backgrounds, and they were even cohabiting with some docile robots, which makes me believe that this dream was set so far in the future that robots were already an integral part of society. There was an explosion behind me, and one of the bigger robots had, somehow, squeezed his way through the halls and had broken into the towering doors, scoping around for me.

Again, everyone scattered. Even though I didn't know these people well, they knew that I was being hunted, and they decided to help me get away from the killer robot. Can't really quite remember how, though.

"Space Cowboy" - 10/16/2007

"Space Cowboy"
10/16/2007

(Had a multi-vitamin, and a really messed-up dream, last night. The weirdest thing about it was that the time period kept jumping - first I would be in the Old West, and then I would be in futuristic space, with mixed up elements of each, in between.)

It seems that I was a Special Agent, and pilot of my own space ship. I also had a beautiful, possibly-Spanish wife or girlfriend, who was very pregnant with my child.

In the beginning of the dream, I remember working on my ship - which was docked on the water - when an assassin had come in and tried to kill me. We had gotten into a firefight, and he dove into the water through a portal in the bottom of the ship. I chased him down, swimming through this long, glass tunnel of water, but he closed a heavy, electronic door at the end before I could get to him, sealing me off and making his escape. I returned to my ship and continued doing what I was doing.

The dream skipped ahead and my girl and I, along with a bunch of others, were now in the Old West. We were shacked up in some hotel and my girl was in the room by herself. I'd gotten a phone call (yes, a phone call, in the Old West!) and it was the leader of the organization that had sent the assassin - my nemesis. He told me that my main priority should be looking out for my wife/girlfriend - in a way that could only be taken as a threat - and then he abruptly hung up. Frantic, I got to the room as quickly as possible and, without alarming her, began to check all the different quarters within our hotel room (which was about the size of a large apartment unit).

In one of the bedrooms, I found a guy who was nearly naked, sitting on the floor, Indian-style, with his back facing me and his head bowed. Gun drawn, I moved upon him slowly and ordered him to get up. When he did, he was completely calm - submissive. He didn't do or say anything, and he just kind of looked at the floor the whole time. I took out a pair of handcuffs and brought his arms up behind his head. This guy was so skinny that I was able to put the handcuffs around his biceps, somehow running the chain through a necklace he was wearing and keeping the handcuffs positioned behind his head, which I'm sure was very uncomfortable. I, then, walked him into the bathroom and sat him in the tub, figuring that, with his arms the way they were, it would be hard for him to get out. I can't remember if I called somebody to pick him up, after that, or what, but the dream skipped ahead again.

It was the next day, and the intruder had been taken care of. My girl was in the shower and we were getting ready to go down to this huge festival that was right outside the hotel. Once outside, everybody in our group was sharing a big table, and we were listening to some live music under the festival tent. After a short while, my girl started to say that she wasn't feeling very well. That her stomach was upset. One of the other ladies said that she would walk her upstairs and stay with her while she lay down.

Some time passed and I decided to go up and check on her. There was a lot of commotion going on, upstairs, and I could tell that something was wrong. When I got to our room, there was a ruckus coming from inside, and a sign was on the door which said something close to: "Please do not disturb. Medical emergency due to miscarriage" (paraphrase). I ran into the room to see my girl laying on the bed, and she looked very sick. There was a doctor already there, and he/she (can't remember which, because I know there was at least another female there) told me that my girl had been poisoned, that she was fighting for her life, and we had already lost the baby; who couldn't have been any more than a month or so from birth. Immediately, I flashed back to the assassin. He had poisoned the water while he was in the house. I had rationalized that the assassin had, somehow, been able to do it after I had put him in the tub.

The doctor didn't allow me to stay, because I would only get in the way, and he told me that they would do what they could and update me on her condition.

Time skipped ahead, and everything was now in the present, though as far as the story-line, it was the same day. Mom was driving me to my best friend T's house, and then she was going to take us both out somewhere in order to try and get my mind off of things. Now, apparently, the girl with whom I was in the relationship was also one of T's ex-girlfriends (though not a real one, from waking life). When I went inside and told him what was going on with her, he didn't really seem to care. I stressed with him that she could die and asked how he could be so cold. He replied with a scathing comment about how his feelings for her ended way before her and I started dating, and he simply didn't care anymore. We'd almost gotten into a big argument about it and decided to just call off hanging out for the day, until our tempers settled.

Later, I had gone back (to the Old West) and got the news that she actually had died. I remember falling to my knees and crying uncontrollably. Shortly after that, I got called on a mission. Still anguished, I flew my crew to a planet where we had to kill these huge aliens (I think the time jumping was more a jumble of ideas than static adherence to any time period. I didn't even think about it being funny that I still had my Space Ship in the old western period). There was a big war that ensued, and it was wild as hell. The aliens were like 15 foot tall porcupines that stood on two legs and, instead of spines on their backs, they had actual soil and leaves and bushes and plants. This entire area was a vast jungle, so what was on their backs was actually camouflage. When they were down on all fours, you couldn't see them at all. Then, they would just appear out of nowhere and, from the underside, they looked like mutant grizzly bears or something. These guys were nasty, and they were just mutilating us - grabbing men and then just disappearing into their surroundings, making themselves really hard to track and shoot. We did end up winning, though, but I was becoming more and more unstable, over the course of the battle. Depression had taken hold of me and, even after we'd declared victory, I refused to talk to anyone.

Back on the ship, I was walking, through its hallways, I was consumed by despair, and I just couldn't take any of this, anymore. The only thing I could think about, at all, was losing my family. It was eating away at me. I couldn't help but blame myself, convinced that it was after I put the guy in the tub that he was able to pollute the water supply. Crawling into the Captain's chair of the dimly-lit cockpit, I just sat there, staring out into space and thinking about all I'd lost. At one point, some of my crew members peeked in, because they knew that I was going under. They didn't say anything, and though I didn't acknowledge them, I could feel their concern. The door eventually closed and they just left, in silence.

I was too far gone, though. Nothing really seemed to matter anymore, and I wanted out. I got up and left the cockpit, making my way to one of the cargo areas and strapping myself in to one of the smaller, single-pilot ships and firing up its engine. Once I left the main ship, I set a random co-ordinate on this personal craft, having absolutely no idea where I was going (as far as I knew, I was just going to the farthest, uninhabited corner of the universe), no food, and no idea how much fuel I had.

Basically saying "f*ck it all," I hit the warp-drive, jumping my ship into the unknown - with no plans of returning or reaching any destination alive.

I just didn't care anymore.
