"Dirty Deeds" - 03/22/2008

"Dirty Deeds"
03/22/2008

(This dream started with some weird H.I. that kept flashing in and out, about the movie Van Helsing. It was the part where Anna and Van Helsing were talking in the rain and drinking absynthe, then they fall into the shaft where the Frankenstein monster lived. The actual, heavy dreaming didn't start until after that.)

It was the day after the cave-in (from the H.I.), and I was with a group of guys that had come to the site. The cave-in was much more exaggerated than it had previously been, and there were huge tree stumps and boulders and whatnot covering this giant hole. We weren't there because we'd heard about the monster, though. We were there because we heard there was gold there.

We began trying to clear away some of the debris, but were having a lot of trouble, because everything was just much bigger and heavier than we expected. Out of nowhere, some of the guys in the group turned guns on the rest of us, and some more of their friends drove up. The leader of their part of the group said that we're going to help him and his boys get the gold, and then they are going to keep it for themselves, or they would shoot us all. We were forced to work some more and some stuff proved to just be too big to move. One guy, with this smug look on his face, said something like: "At least I came prepared," and he lit a stick of dynamite and threw it on the pile, ignoring the fact that we were still standing on it, working. We all ran for our lives and I jumped behind the heavy door of one of their trucks, just as the dynamite exploded and sent debris flying everywhere, one huge, splintered log flying right passed where I was hiding.

Happy with the effectiveness of the dynamite, they started using more and more of it, until we finally exposed some crates. Opening the crates, there was nothing but paper inside, folded and stacked up on top of each other. At first, everyone was like "What the f*ck?" and the guys with the guns were beginning to get irate. Then they started going through the papers and discovered that they were unsigned deeds to some kind of building complexes that had a total value of millions of dollars. The mood changed pretty quickly and, for a while, there was a lot of celebrating on the side of the hijackers. However, from the looks of the guys in my side of the group, I could tell that there was a pretty intense power-struggle that was about to go down..

"Everybody Out of the Deadpool" - 11/23/2012

"Everybody Out of the Deadpool!"
11/23/2012
Dream #1
I was a disembodied spectator of this dream, watching Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds version), aka Deadpool - before his transformation - being led through some industrial facility. The place was being run by an evil syndicate, and I believe it had an oil refinery to use as a front. The villains had taken Wade captive, and they were going to perform all types of experiments on him - whether he liked it or not - to turn him into their own mutant weapon: Deadpool. I could see a screen that was showing what mutant abilities they were going to be adding to his own, and I saw that it once referenced something about his 'motor-mouth,' as if it was something that they were assessing for their experiments. Wade was walking alongside a woman - who obviously didn't want to hear a thing he had to say - and he was just cracking all types of jokes. The woman was getting very visibly annoyed. It was rather hilarious, though. From the way he was acting, you wouldn't have been able to tell that he was even being held there against his will.

Sooner or later, there was a battle going on inside this facility. I believe Wade's team had come to bust him out and to take down the syndicate, but I'm not exactly sure who they were. I do know that a plan was devised to destroy the facility via some sort of nuclear device. I remember panic, as people were trying to stop the explosion and/or escape the facility. At the very end of the battle, the initial device had been disarmed, but someone else had set a back-up plan into motion, that caused the oil running through the facility to be channeled up into one, single tunnel, where it began to well up. I could see people running through the hallways, trying to escape the facility, and the ground around them was shaking. Telephone poles, near the exit, were wobbling. These were ominous signs that there was a massive explosion building beneath the facility. Then, the oil burst out of a single channel, essentially through a manhole cover in the ground, and spraying an enormous black geyser into the air. My perspective pulled out from the factory's perimeter, showing the full hundreds of feet that the black fluid shot into the sky, piercing a large layer of green clouds that hung low, over the city. Gravity soon began to take hold, once the geyser hit its apex. The green clouds, it seems, turned out to be a thick layer of methane gas that was blanketing the city (exactly like the scene in The Mask where Stanley and Tina are overlooking the city from the park, and it shows all the green methane emissions in the air).

In what I believe was slow motion, I witnessed the villains watching this jet of black oil fly up into the air, blooming into an umbrella and falling back down toward the layer of methane that over the city. At that same moment, a fire was ignited in the facility - though I don't know by whom; a trail of fire streaked up the oil geyser and toward the methane clouds that the upward jet had broken through; and that the downward arc of falling oil was about to re-enter. I saw the look of impending doom on their faces, evidencing that they knew exactly what was about to happen. The fire - doing what it does - surged up the geyser; through the hole in the green gas; up to the apex of the oil fountain; and then began to rain back down toward the cloud of flammable methane. After a short moment of dramatic silence, the entire methane cloud combusted, creating a gargantuan explosion, across the entire city, that would have rivaled any destructive blast that the team might have used to blow up the facility.

The enormous mushroom cloud, curling over the city, was the last thing I remember of the dream.

"No R.I.P. for the Weary" - 11/23/2012 (Lucid + FA)

"No R.I.P. for the Weary"
11/23/2012
Dream #2
(Lucid + FA)

I was in my old house in Canterbury. My baby's mom, G, was gone, and I was in our room, while her father was asleep in his own room, across the house. It was nighttime outside, and I was getting ready for bed. There was some kind of figurine, which I was moving from one spot to another, when I suddenly began to feel eyes on me. I looked toward the window, still holding the figurine. Through the curtains, inside, and the bushes which sat outside the window, I saw a face and two eyes staring back at me. It was 'Julie'. She gave me a mischievous smile and moved away from the window, as if to try and undo the fact that I had caught her spying on me. A little excited by this, I decided to go to the front door and invite her in. (Even though we were still living together, for a short while afterward, my ex and I had already had a mutual separation, by this point, IRL.)

When I walked to the living room, I went to open what I thought was the front door, and it turned out to be my ex's dad's room door, which had switched sides of the house. I apologized to him and then went to the other side of the house, closer to where the front door should be, given this (new) layout. When I opened this door, it was the door to the carport, instead. I realized how strange this was. When I turned back to the living room, I recognized that everything was backward. The house was set-up completely differently than it had been in waking life. It occurred to me that I was dreaming. What I didn't know was how long I'd been dreaming. I remembered that 'Julie' was supposed to be coming in/over, and I'd wondered if I had fallen asleep before she arrived. Unsure about this, and quite anxious see where things were going to go with her, I tried to wake myself up, to make sure she wasn't really coming over.

I "woke up" on my bed - completely oblivious to the fact that I was still dreaming - and went to the door (still in my old house, not my present one). 'Julie' was there, and I let her in, happy to see that I hadn't missed the opportunity. She hung out in the room for a while, and then we inevitably started to fool around. Just then, there was a knock at the door. I went back out to open it, and my other, most recent ex-girlfriend, M, was standing there. I knew that M and 'Julie' didn't really like each other, so I was trying to stall M, so that she wouldn't know exactly what was going on here, since she and I were still friends after our breakup. It wasn't very long after this awkward moment, that I involuntarily received the most perfect distraction possible...

Zombies.

Out of nowhere, a small band of zombies made its way into the house. (I had been talking with a coworker about The Walking Dead, the tv show, last night). We all scrambled to get out of the house, grabbing whatever make-shift weapons that we could. Passing by the kitchen, I remember turning back to grab the knife set from off of the counter. We made our way through the laundry room and into the carport, and I had to frantically stab at some of the undead that were trying to clamber over the fence to get us. While my arm was extended, one of the zombies reached its head up and opened wide, aiming to take a huge chunk out of it. I saw the teeth come down toward my arm, and I thought to myself "NOOOOOOOO!!!!" knowing what was in store for me. All of a sudden, as if because of that moment of panic, the zombie's mouth froze in place with its teeth just resting around my arm, having not bitten into it. It was literally just resting there. Only taking a short moment to wonder 'what the hell?' I then got myself back in gear, and we began to move away from the house.

We didn't get very far before a black van (identical to the one that G used to drive IRL, actually) came screeching around the corner, directly toward us. We tried to desperately dive out of the way, but the van ended up smashing into M and then crashing into the house. I ran over to the vehicle and saw that M was in really bad shape after the impact, but just barely still alive. Her body looked pretty mangled, and her face was all bloodied and bruised. She needed medical attention, and fast. I knelt over her, trying to tend to her and make sure she was still alive, and some bratty kid - from a crowd that had gathered after the accident - was teasing me by saying something like "Awww, look at you, taking care of the wittle baby..." or something similar. I told the kid off - but really wanted to kick his ass - and went back to care for M. There is a bit of a memory gap here, where I can't remember exact details, but it turned out that the driver of the van was someone from the syndicate that was holding Wade Wilson - aka Deadpool - captive (in the previous dream of the night, which can be read here).

JS, another neighborhood friend of mine, showed up, and we were able to take this murderous driver down, after dragging him out of the wreckage. He'd tipped us off - somehow - that there were more of them coming after me, because I had allegedly helped Wade escape, earlier (though I don't actually remember having a presence in the previous dream. Just watching it the events unfold).

Another set of headlights beamed into the area, notifying us that someone else would be coming around the corner soon. I told JS that they would be coming for me, and to get M out of there. I knew that the zombies were still in the area, but I had to draw all attention away from my friends. Just as the next vehicle was coming around the bend, I took off and ran around to the other side of the house. Pivoting at the far side, to circle around the building and let the car pass by where I had once been, I looked to one side, as something had caught my eye. There, leaning up against the wall, was Robocop. He was just...standing there. It looked like he was in a sleep-stasis mode, with his head down, hiding back behind some bushes as if he had been placed there. I thought to myself 'damn, I could really use his help, right now,' but I had to keep moving, because I was still in the open and knew that any vehicle passing by my house would see me, once they looked around the corner.

I rounded the back side of the house, and then came back around on the other side. From there, I could see JS helping M down the street, holding her up while walking beside her. I took one more look around the corner, to make sure the coast was clear, and went to meet them, knowing that the pursuing car had already passed where we'd once been. Just as I reached them, though, I was attacked from behind. A man who reminded me of Simon Phoenix (Wesley Snipes) from the movie 'Demolition Man' was all over me. We started fighting in the street, and this dude apparently knew what he was doing. He had counters for almost everything I threw at him, and I was beginning to think that I was going to lose this match. Suddenly, I got a hold of a pair of handcuffs - though I can't remember where I got them from. It took a bit more struggle, but I was able to get them fitted on his wrists. He wasn't done, though. He kept fighting me, tenaciously, and was boasting to me about how he could pick his cuffs. He said that once he got his hands free, he was going to kill me. We struggled some more - both of us now lying on the asphalt - and I had to hold his wrists apart to try to keep one hand from reaching the other cuff.

Eventually, though, he overpowered me and snapped one of the cuffs off. Before he could act, I grabbed the fingers of one of his hands. I could see the shock grow in his eyes as I began to push backward on the fingers. He was silently pleading with me not to break them. In my heart, I really didn't want to break them. I knew it was going to be a sickening feeling, as I had never broken someone's bones before, in waking life. This was a matter of life and death, though, and this guy had to be immobilized. With one final push, I snapped all four fingers backward, to where they literally folded back on his hand, severed at the knuckles and leaving only bloody stumps attached to the palm.

The man screamed in pain, but kept on fighting. Even with a broken hand, he ended up overpowering me and kneeling over me, pulling out some kind of weapon and making a gesture which telegraphed that he was about to introduce me to a world of hurt. Just in time, though, gunfire rang out, and the man stopped. He looked from me to JS, nearby, who was holding a machine gun (that I immediately just assumed he had taken from one of the villains). We then looked from the gun barrel to the spot behind my opponent, where the gun was aimed, just in time to see a zombie - which was just about to attack me and the guy I was fighting, fall to pieces, its body practically split in half by the short burst of gunfire. Spouts of blood squirted up from the split torso, which then fell to the ground. My attacker looked just as shocked as I was. He looked back at JS, who had just saved his life, and then down at me. Seemingly having a change of heart, he stood up and reluctantly backed off.

Then, another set of headlights cut through the brief pause. Another van came roaring around the turn, and we all scrambled away, again, before it could run us over. I jumped to my feet, borrowing the gun from JS and running after the passing van, which rounded another corner and tried to make a U-Turn. Running up on the van, I let bullets spray into the driver's side window, killing the driver, opening the door and throwing him out of the van. I then jumped inside and brought the van around to pick up the others. We hauled ass toward the front of the neighborhood, just as another van was passing us, presumably driving to where we'd just been. I knew that they would be turning back around shortly, once they realized we were no longer there. Gunning the engine toward the intersection at the front of the neighborhood, and looking back in the rear-view to see if the other van was behind us, I nearly froze when I turned back to my front side and saw a low-flying fighter jet heading straight toward us, in the night sky. Before I even had a chance to react, a volley of missiles streaked out from the jet, sailing directly over the roof of our van and blowing up the van that had been coming up behind us. The jet screamed through the air and flew over top of us, trailing the missile exhaust, and I realized that the help had come from Wade's team that had come to stop the evil syndicate, before (but still wasn't able to piece together that these were dreams, even though I remembered the events in the previous one).

I was momentarily relieved, but then I remembered that we were driving one of those same vans, and that the jet would probably be coming around to make another pass and take us out - not knowing who was driving. I told everyone that we had to ditch the van as soon as possible, and I sped through the intersection to get as far away from the neighborhood as possible before stopping so we could all bail out. I don't remember ever actually leaving the van though, before waking up.

"Fire-breathing Fire" - 07/10/2020 (Lucid)

"Fire-breathing Fire"
07/10/2010
(Lucid)

From my earliest memory of this dream, I was lucid. I was on some crazy, roller-coaster type of track, with my daughter. The coaster had no cars, and we were actually running on the tracks and around the areas that the tracks had connected to one another. Surrounding the pillars of mountains and concrete structures, stretched an endless, blue ocean, and the tracks we were running on were apparently suspended over the water by nothing. We ran on these thin rails with breakneck, video game-like speed, zipping around corners and up hills. I held her hand, and she followed close behind me. Sometimes we would jump off the tracks, without breaking stride, and run around, exploring the hills and buildings, before jumping back onto the tracks and continuing on our way. At different intervals, our tracks would sometimes come to a break, and we'd have to jump onto parallel tracks, to avoid falling into the infinite ocean below us. (It all felt very Sonic the Hedgehog-ish). She was in awe of the whole thing and wondered how we were able to do this. I told her that we were lucid dreaming, but didn't go into her being a DC. I don't believe it really crossed my mind, to any significant degree.

My recall skips ahead, and I'm was back at my old home, in Canterbury, and still lucid. I walked into the room which used to be my parents', and my dad was in there. I told him to check me out, and I started levitating in front of him. He just watched for a moment, and I bounced slowly around the room, from walls to ceiling and floor, as if I was filled with helium - lightly pushing my hands off the ceiling to make myself float down, the other way. He asked how I was doing it, and I explained the whole lucid thing to him, even going so far as to tell him about how he wasn't real and was just a DC - which I hadn't done with my daughter. He was just astonished, and he started rubbing his hands all over everything in the room - from the bed to the dresser and back again. When he sat down on the bed, I focused my mind on it and levitated it slowly to the ceiling. The bed actually touched flat against the ceiling, and when I lowered it, my dad was nowhere to be found. I tried to turn around and summon him, but he just wouldn't show up. Then, I remembered what had happened, during one of the last times I was standing in this room, while lucid. (I had accidentally summoned my old friend, MW, after I had spent the whole dream trying to get rid of him.) So, seeing if I could kick-start my summoning ability by doing something familiar, I tried to summon MW again, by expecting him to just walk around the corner and into the room. No dice. Frustrated, I turned back to look at the room - trying of thinking of something else to do - and, lo and behold, MW was already sitting on the bed, looking at me with this stupid grin as if to say; "You rang?"

Even more frustrated at his comically-sarcastic entrance, I just smirked at him and turned back around, leading him out of the room. We walked out of the house, through the carport door - by this time, having abandoned my intention to summon my dad again - and there was a bunch of other people playing in the street. The first thing that caught my eye was the moon, being that it was the only thing in the night sky. I focused on the moon and moved it just slightly, testing my control over it. I, then, concentrated and attempted to turn it into a replica of the Earth. I don't remember what the actual morph looked like, but it was soon a spitting image of our planet, so far as I could tell. Finally, I yanked on the orb, telekinetically, and pulled it out of the sky. The planet - scaled to about the size of a mini-van, and still glowing as if it were lit by the sun, from within - thudded heavily onto the street and rolled about, between the group of onlookers. They all started playing with it, as if it were a giant medicine ball.

I had left the group, and was soon sitting in my truck, in front of my house. Someone, parked nearby, was having car trouble. I believe it was MW again. He asked me if I had AAA and, as soon as the question left his lips, a tow-truck came pulling up behind us. We got out of our vehicles and began to go over to talk to the toe truck driver, when something caught my eye. I looked over toward the dark backdrop of the bayou behind my old house, and there was a snake-like flame, about the size of a man, dancing toward us from under a tall tree. As it got closer, I could see that it was a dragon. A dragon made of fire. It had a snake-like body, which stood up like a cobra - nearly as tall as I was - and it was a mean sum'bitch. It was undeniably badass, though; made out of a smokeless fire that blazed all around what looked to be a reflective, multi-colored body, beneath. It kept spitting flames at all of us, and I stepped in the way, standing in one of the flames. I didn't create a shield, as I'd done in my first lucid dragon encounter, but I just stood there and let it breathe fire all over me. To my surprise, it was actually pretty hot, but nothing too intense. Finally, in the middle of its assault, I held up my hands in front of me and took control of the dragon's body, with my mind. Waving my arms a little, to guide the mental movements, I literally tied the dragon's long, serpentine body into a knot with telekinesis, as if he were some big, flaming balloon animal. I then flicked my head in one direction and threw the dragon off to one side, discarding it.

Looking around, for something else to do, I tried to make some mushroom clouds erupt up and out of the midnight horizon. Some smaller explosions blasted through the nearby neighborhood, but nothing on the scale of what I was trying to accomplish. Along the ditch nearby, I could see some kids playing in the field. It had looked as if they were playing, at least. Then, I saw that they were, actually, running from the police. A squad car had driven up onto the grass and was chasing the kids through the field, heading in my direction. Having nothing more pressing to do with my lucidity, I sat and watched, waiting to see what would happen next. Out of nowhere, now about 50 yards away, the kids all drew pistols and opened fire into the squad car. The cops didn't even have a chance to react. Riddled with bullets, the squad car kept approaching me, sirens blaring, and cut a sharp turn into the soil. This caused the car to flip over once, passing me and coming to rest on it's rooftop, a couple of feet to my left. I couldn't even see the actual cops inside the wreckage. All I saw was a huge splatter of blood on the windshield, foretelling their fate. (I had been playing GTA, before bed, and that's what the whole ordeal felt like.)

I knew that I would be waking up soon, so I started going over the events of the dream in my mind, recalling as much as I could, before making that transition from dreaming to waking life. Something else began to happen, in the field, but I decided to pay no attention to it and jump out of the dream, while the events, so far, were still fresh in my mind.

Space Rock Fairy - 02/26/2020 ( Lucid)

Space Rock Fairy
02/26/2020
Dream #1
(Lucid)

The first thing I remember is being at a pool party, some time around dusk. There were people both inside and outside the home, and things had started off fairly normally. This changed, though, when we were suddenly put on alert that there was a series of asteroids headed toward Earth, with projections of eminent impact. Not much longer had I received this news, than I realized that most of the people from the pool party had simply vanished. The few people left in the home told me that the others had escaped into an underground bunker and, apparently, we had been left behind.

From outside, a series of loud explosions began to shake the home. The asteroid bombardment had begun. I knew that this house would get flattened, and that I had to find some way to shield myself from the falling masses. Perhaps counter-intuitively, I ran outside. I was as if bombs were detonating across the neighborhood, as the flaming rocks began to level the neighborhood. From where I was standing, and at the angle from which the asteroids were incoming, I could see that I might have a chance of blocking their trajectory, if I jumped into the pool and flattened myself against the forward-facing wall. There was no other shelter, around.

Having little time for doubt, I dove into the water, holding my breath and ducking against the wall of the pool. The asteroid onslaught continued around me, and I could hear them crashing onto the pool deck and see them falling into the water, just out of reach of me, the 6-to-8-foot wall providing the slightest bit of cover. I was, however, running into another problem. I was running out of breath, and I knew I couldn't stay here, forever. (I am a recreational free-diver, and I can hold my breath for a good while, but that wasn't going to help me, in this situation.)

Luckily, just as I was weighing the necessity of me coming out of hiding, in order to breathe, I realized that I already could breathe! I immediately knew that I was dreaming. No longer fearing the asteroid catastrophe, I crawled out of the pool and stood on the deck, looking up at the sky. The asteroids were still raining down, and I could see that they looked very polished and low-res - almost 'video game-like'. Reaching my hands up, and focusing my mind, I began deflecting away the asteroids with telekinesis, causing them to either break apart, on impact with the invisible barrier over my head, or to spin off course, missing me and the house, and crashing somewhere else in the neighborhood.

By this time, the pool party-goers were starting to re-emerge, many of them crowding around the pool to watch me fight off the asteroids. It was then, that I saw a winged creature - similar to a moth, but about the size of a small dog - come frantically spiraling down from the same direction of the falling rocks. It flew around the yard, erradically, and I, still aware this was a dream, was fascinated by it. I ran after it and caught it in my hands, wrestling with the creature as it tried to escape my grasp. Though I knew I had nothing to fear, just holding this wriggling, squirming, giant insect in my hands was rather disturbing, but I held on, nonetheless.

On the patio, nearby, I found a large container made out of a kind of glass or transparent plastic, and I was able to trap the creature inside. It fluttered within, with such a force that it broke one of the side panels, but before it could escape, I pushed back against the box with telekinesis and was able to keep it shut. The people gathered around this box and we just stared at this creature, watching it bounce around, inside. Curiousity was getting the better of me, and I began to wonder what this thing would say if it could talk. Softening any expectations I might have, I attempted to "will" the creature into speaking English, to see if it would communicate with us. My expectations were successfully subverted, as this thing turned into a full-on, apparently female, fairy.

Still small enough to fit in the box, the panicked fairy began shouting a warning to us: she said that she was an alien creature, and her very powerful father had been chasing her across the cosmos. If we didn't let her go, she said, her father would inevitably find her and, upon doing so, would likely destroy the planet, just out of spite. Of course, had this been any other scenario, I would have been terrified at this new development. However, since I was fully lucid, and feeling quite confident in my dream control, I thought this was awesome, and I couldn't wait to meet the guy!

Seconds later, a sleek, black object descended from the sky. It was a smooth, almost teardrop-shaped vessel, which slowly landed in the yard, just beside the pool. A ship. One side of the object opened up, and an enormous, shadowy-black figure emerged from within. He stood around 10 feet tall, and had red, glowing eyes, though I couldn't really make out any of his other features, even in the fading sunlight. (He reminded me a bit of the character Trigon, from DC's Titans, though as little more than a silhouette.)

Unfortunately, I started to lose lucidity, around here. I remember having a brief conversation with this "monster," and I was able to trick him into thinking that his daughter had passed up Earth and gone to some other planet. Sooner or later, he up and left, without incident. Upon his departure, the fairy came out of hiding, and the last thing I remember her saying was something about how pissed he was going to be, when he realizes he'd been duped and comes back around.

"Genetically-enhanced Penguin" - 05/29/2007

"Genetically Enhanced Penguin"
5/29/2007
Dream #5

(This one was just weird and random.)

The first thing I remember is being in some type of laboratory. These people had either created or "enhanced" a young penguin that was lying in an incubator. Somehow, I got the job of taking care of this little guy, after he was done...incubating? (for lack of a better word).

Later, I was in an unfamiliar apartment complex. I don't know exactly where the penguin was, during this part but, before I knew it, Ice Cube (the rapper) showed up to hang out and sell me a bag of smoke. He was pitching how good this batch was, to me, and I picked up a bag and smelled it. It smelled really good, however, when I looked inside, I could see that there were little corn kernals mixed in with the buds. He said something about that having to do with the re-plant-ability of the buds and how it would grow into some super-strain or something, with the help of the corn kernals. Haha. Hilarious.

Without warning, some psychopath came barging into the apartment and just immediately opened fire on everyone inside. (There were like 6 of us in the apartment, at the time). He missed me, but I went down on the couch and played possum, until he was done with his rampage. When he was through, I saw him turn the gun on himself and shoot himself in the head. He went down, on the couch, right beside me.

I don't remember too much more about that scene, but I was soon taking the small penguin home, driving around in a convertible with some girl in the passenger seat. Suddenly, the penguin stood up straight - all alert - as if there was some trouble coming. Before we could figure out what it was doing, it immediately took off into the sky like a missle (I think he even had a vapor trail behind him. Haha.) and arced over the rooftops of the apartments that we were driving next to. I pulled the car to a stop and we could see a light show of explosions, behind the buildings. The explosions then detonated in succession, in a straight line, toward the front of the complex to our right, which was a few yards in front of us. When the blasts reached the end of the block, there was another large explosion as the penguin came smashing through one of the buildings like it was paper, and back onto the street we were parked on. The explosions, that we'd seen a few minutes ago, had been shockwaves from the penguin, running so fast that he was destroying the brick buildings as if they were made of glass.

He came running back toward us and passed us, moving toward this huge mound that was coming up out of the ground, behind us. From this concrete mound/mountain, a swarm of giant bugs that looked like the aliens from Starship Troopers came pouring out. Their front arms were equipped with these whip-like tendrils and they were just pretty f***ing nasty creatures. We ended up getting into an insane battle, with these things on this mountain. This penguin was just zipping all around us, and owning these bug-monsters like some sort of superhero.

Sometime during the mayhem, I remember hearing weird, disembodied laughter. I looked up at the sky and the moon was a giant smiley-face that was laughing, and it melted and fallen out of the sky, as soon as I looked up at it. The laughter continued, though, and I was wondering just where in the hell it was coming from, because it sounded so familiar. My perspective then changed, and my view was suddenly scaling the side of a building, getting closer and closer to the origin of the maniacal laughter. When it reached the top, I was staring into the face of the Joker (from Batman: The Animated Series) and he was just cracking up, watching us fight these bugs, from the rooftop.

I don't remember anything else.

"No Disassemble Johnny 5!!" - 09/22/2007

"No Disassemble Johnny 5!!"
09/22/2007

This one started in a school. I was sitting in a desk with a bunch of others that were surrounding a projector. The teacher was going over something and we were all supposed to be taking notes. I don't remember very much about this part, but I know that, at some time, I got out of my desk and was actually laying down on the floor, taking notes, instead of being in my chair. E.T. and M.R. (two female ex-coworkers, that are too old for school) were some of my classmates. It was a holiday and there was a big "holiday function" going on, in the auditorium. Afterward, during the night, we all went out to eat at a place that reminded me of Denny's.

I really don't know how he got tied into all of this but, for some reason, the robot Johnny 5 (from the movie Short Circuit) was a friend of mine, and he was in the restaurant with us. Some big "Kill Johnny 5" scenario broke out where even some of the restaurant workers were out to destroy him. One of the restaurant workers even had a laser like J5's, that he was shooting up the whole place with, trying to get the robot. We were able to get him safely out of the restaurant, and into M.R.'s car. There was a short segment that I remember where J5 and I were laughing and joking around in the backseat and we were showing ourselves to be such good friends that M.R. and E.T. were like "Awwww."

We drove to the apartment of the girl from the Short Circuit movie (which looked like the apt complex I lived in, in Georgia). As we were pulling up, we saw a backhoe working in a ditch on the side of the neighborhood. J5 said something like "That's him," implying that he had a mechanical arch-nemesis. We drove by the backhoe as discretely as we could while J5 explained that the backhoe was some sort of alien technology that could shape-shift like the Transformers. Once we got in the apartment, my perspective switched from first- to third-person.

In third-person, I saw the backhoe move to another position in the neighborhood and do this crazy section-by-section transformation, and turn into another type of "tractor." The next day came (still in third-person) and I watched the foreman of the construction project start investigating the incorrect digging of the ditch the backhoe was attending to. Then, out of nowhere, the (newly transformed) backhoe, which was now more like a fork-lift, slam into the foreman from behind and push him into some sort of compacting machine. The guy's arm got trapped in the machine and I saw him get dragged into the works and shredded by the machine (which looked completely fake, as if it was a b-movie effect). Afterward, the "forklift" manifested this humanoid for a driver (kind of like the Decepticon's from the movie had the holographic drivers/pilots), and assume the identity of the foreman.

The next morning (back in first person), the holographic person came to our apartment door, which was on the second floor, and demanded to see J5. J5 had actually asked us to shut down his system, so he couldn't be detected by the other machine, and we told the holographic guy that J5 wasn't with us (I really won't take the time to fully describe the guy's persona, but he was a really animated psychopath - kinda looking like Sylar from Heroes, with a personality like a psychotic Jim Carrey). The guy finally went away, but then, knowing that we were lying, he got back in his "transformer" and started tearing apart the neighborhood. He used the machine to stack up a bunch of crates and shoot them, with some weird catapult mechanism, toward the train tracks that were not far from us (this, I saw in third person). Finally, he launched a huge rubber tire onto the tracks. Some guy came along, just as a train was coming, and tried to remove the tire from the tracks and the "Decepticon" (for lack of a better word) tricked the guy into staying on the tracks for too long, and the guy got hit by the train. Still as a disembodied entity, my perspective followed the holographic guy as he walked back to the machine, after revelling in his handi-work. I began to actually talk to him (though I was really no more than a "camera" following him) and asked him about how it felt to be a killer, somewhat interviewing him. He said he "loved his work."

My perspective switched back to first-person, and we were up inside the apartment. I seemed to have some recollection of what I'd seen as a disembodied entity, because I was suddenly telling everyone with me that "We need to get out of here" because this guy was about to go apeshit. The girl we'd come to seek refuge with said that she wasn't packed and ready, and that we could leave without her, and she'd catch up with her. I said something like "No, we need to leave now! I don't care if you run out with your pj's on. We have to go!" No sooner had I said this, than my perspective switched back to 3rd person, and I saw a bunch of chains attached to the same conveyor-belt machine that had chopped up the foreman. The chains were strung up to our apartment. They started pulling and completely ripped the staircase and front face of our apartment off.

Shortly after, back in first person, we heard a piano playing downstairs. What was once a second-story apartment was now a two-story sort of townhouse. We walked down an inside staircase (which wasn't there when we got there) and to the first floor of her apartment. She now had a bunch of family members down there, and there was a piano playing by itself. I knew something was definitely wrong, and we all stood around trying to find out what was going on. There was a round young boy that was standing near me. The front door, which was directly behind me, blew open, and I rushed to close it. For some reason, I looked back at the kid. I somehow knew that there was something not right with this kid, and put him in an arm lock. He went from a false panic to a maniacal laughter, and I (again, somehow) knew that the holographic man had transformed into the kid. Holding him, I asked what happened to the real kid that was related to the girl we were hiding with. The "boy" said something like "Him? Oh, I chopped him up and put him in the piano" motioning over to the piano that was playing itself, and he continued laughing. The kid was suddenly gone and, looking outside, I saw that he had materialized back into the crazy holographic guy. Through the window, he made one final demand for us to give up J5, so he could destroy him. We refused, and he was like "Ok, fine," and walked off. My perspective switched yet again and saw the guy standing over a detonator. He said something fanatical that ended with the words "TNT!" (don't remember what he said, though), and hit the detonator. A huge chain reaction of explosions started that implied he'd wired the entire complex with explosions and was about to take it all down, including our apartment. We could feel the ground shaking as the explosions went off, and they were getting increasingly closer. I didn't get to see what happened though, because, during the explosions, I woke up.

"Stealth-tastic Three" - 08/03/2007

”Stealth-tastic Three”
08/03/2007
Dream One

I wish I could remember more of this one, because it was awesome, and so vivid. It was something of a cross between the movies Stealth and Fantastic Four. I was a part of a team of young, hotshot fighter pilots, which was made up of myself; a white dude….and Jessica Alba. (Obviously replacing Jessica Biel, who wa actually in the Stealth movie.)

We were flying these sleek, little, black, vertical take-off/landing aircraft, equipped with retractable force fields (kinda like pilotable versions of the aircraft from Stealth, though I can’t remember if that one had a force-field or not. I think it did, though). At some point, we had flown out to this restaurant/bar, somewhere in the desert, in what seemed like Nevada - except not quite as barren, and with just the slightest bit of greenery around. Landing outside the bar, we went in and had some food (don’t remember whether we had any drinks or not). While there, another pilot - a black guy, wearing the same flight-suit as we were - walked into the bar. I don’t remember whether or not our meeting was scheduled, or he just showed up, but he sat with us and gave us a warning about the A.I. that was integrated into our aircraft. I can’t remember exactly what he said, though. I don’t think he confirmed that there was any immediate danger, but simply told us to be careful.

We left the restaurant, shaking his hand as we walked outside to our planes. While we were taking off, I remember looking over to the side, from my cockpit, and seeing Jessica standing up in her cockpit, with the canopy flipped up. It was a pretty badass sight to see her standing there, riding this plane that was climbing in a slow, vertical take-off, with the canopy up, and gazing out over the land like she was just the coolest thing since sliced bread. Heh. A few moments later, she just sat down, dropped the canopy, and we all shot off, horizontally, flying off to wherever.

There was a long sequence, that I completely do not remember, where our planes started turning on us. Even, thinking about, I’m not sure how this exactly would have played out, but I just know that that was the inevitable twist in the narrative.

Skipping ahead: we were back in the big city, in what looked like a high-rise apartment building. This game of cat and mouse, between us and the machines that were now trying to kill us, continued. The last scene I really remember was when we were in one of the rooms of this apartment and one of the planes had blown a hole in a wall, big enough for the small, personal aircraft to hover into the building. The room was fairly large, but the plane completely filled up the majority of it, hovering between the floor and ceiling, with precision – merely inches to spare. We were completely cornered, with our backs against one wall, and we saw that the plane was preparing to fire a rocket at us – point blank range. The plane’s force-field went up, shielding itself from the impending blast, and the rocket fired, somehow slipping through the energy field (which I think wasn’t possible with the plane’s force-field, in the movie, if the one in the movie did have a force-field). Prepared to be blown to dust, we all hit the ground in futility….or so I thought.

There was a massive explosion, fire engulfing everything around us. However, somehow, I was alive.

I raised my head and looked around me, seeing nothing but flames and debris exploding, completely blotting out the form of the fighter plane. In shock, I slowly turned to my left. Just over my left shoulder, I saw Jessica, standing strong, with both arms held out in front of her. At the last moment, before the rocket exploded, she had created her own force-field (like her character on Fantastic Four) and had shielded us from the rocket. It was one of the coolest things I’d ever seen.

When the smoke and fire cleared, she dropped the shield. The plane was gone, and we were left in a completely destroyed room. The last thing I remember was stepping out into the - equally-demolished - hallway, and seeing a tenant, further down the corridor, crawling out of some rubble and screaming in agony, because he had about 4 feet of wooden railing driven through his chest, due to the explosion. He staggered, aimlessly, around the hallway, with this beam just sticking out of his body.

"Deadpool Ruins Everything" - 01/24/2019 (Dream Chain)

"Deadpool Ruins Everything"
01/24/2019
(Dream Chain)

Part 1:
I was part of an organization set up in a tall office tower. It was night out, and we'd been tipped off that someone was planning to infiltrate our building and steal some of our weapons technology. We were devising a plan to catch the thieves, setting up a trap, in the CEO's head office, and we brought in Tom Cruise to be a stand-in for the CEO, fitting him with a ridiculous wig and setting him in the boss's chair, his back facing the door. The rest of us hid, out of sight, and waited for the attempted heist that we knew was coming.

Before long, a woman walked into the boss's office. Since my vantage point was mostly at her back, once she came in, I was unable to see her face. From what I could recall, though, she had short, black hair and was wearing what looked like a white lab coat. She walked up to the back-turned boss's chair and issued some kind of threat or demand to him. Then, the chair spun slowly around and Tom Cruise revealed himself as an impostor, and the trap was sprung, thwarting the attempted robbery.

Part 2:
(I don't believe I awoke, between this dream and the previous one, but the scenario was so different that I can only count this as being a completely different dream, and not a continuation of the first.)

I was at a house party, in a suburban area. It was an overcast day, and everyone was still inside when I walked out to the carport. While outside, I was approached by a guy that seemed to have wandered up from off the street. He was a scruffy, leather jacket-wearing white guy, who looked like he could have been part of a biker stereotypical biker gang. He stepped up to me, rather arrogantly, and started spouting off about something. I don't remember whether he was being racist or just had some sort of issue with me and my friends (I distinctly remember him using some kind of "us vs them" rhetoric), but he was certainly challenging me, and I could tell that he was looking for a fight.

After a brief pause, just when it seemed as if he was contemplating swinging the first punch, he suddenly reached into his jacket, drew out a pistol, and just started firing off rounds, at point-blank range, just as I lurched away in shock. At least two of the shots hit me, around my left shoulder. It was a dull feeling of pressure, rather than any sharp pain, but I could immediately tell that I'd shot. I rolled behind something, for cover, and drew my own pistol, popping back out of hiding - just as he was reloading - and pulling the trigger in his direction. I'd forgotten to flick the safety, and the gun didn't fire. Then, I clicked the safety with my thumb and tried again. Nothing. There was no round chambered, which was unusual. While I fumbled with the weapon, trying to chamber a round, the guy finishes reloading and actually starts monologuing, while raising his gun back up at me - talking about how his choice of firearm was superior to mine and that's why he won this gunfight and blah blah. Before he could finish, though, I got the round chamber and started firing away, at him. I could see that I hit him a couple of times before he disappeared around a corner and ran off.

Still injured (which was a general feeling of being drained, rather than - again - any actual pain), but not about to just let this dude get away, I immediately started chasing after him. I saw him jump into an old car and speed off. I jumped into mine, parked nearby and took off after him. Speeding through the neighborhood, we took a turn, at the end of the street, onto a main road. I pulled out my tactical flashlight and attempted to zero-in on his rear-view mirror, to see if I could mess with his vision, while driving, but I don't think it was very effective. (It's something that I've thought about having to use for self-defense, in waking life.) The light was uselessly dim, though, and I remember trying to plug it in to my car charger. Luckily, he was approaching a traffic jam and had to cut off of the road, and through someone's yard, dipping back into the neighborhood on a parallel street to the one that we were recently on.

Cutting the corner and following behind him, I watched him bail out of the car and run between some of the houses, jumping out of my own car and following. A few people poked their heads out of their homes, to see what was going on, and I finally saw him, close to where we started. Another short firefight broke out, and I was able to put maybe five or so shots in him, dropping him down in the grass, dead. Not wanting to just leave the body in the yard, I - rather illogically - decided to drag it over to my car, thinking the trunk would be 'too conspicuous' of a place to leave him and, instead, dumping him into the back seat. Immediately after closing the door, I called the police to report what happened, citing self-defense, and walked back to the party house, nearby.

Back inside, the party was ongoing. I was still feeling weak from the bullets I'd taken, as I was telling my girlfriend, and friends, about what had happened. The front door opened, and a parade of about a dozen cops, in tactical gear, filed into the house. They began to walk right passed me, so I got up and walked over to them, telling them that I was the one who called in, and that I could take them to where the body was. The followed me out the back side of the house, and we walked across the yard toward the house behind us, since my car was still parked on the next street over. It was now night-time, and the yards seemed to stretch out for about half a football field. It seemed strange, to me, and oddly familiar. (What I didn't realize, until later, was that the yard and morphed into the courtyard outside of the tall office building from my previous dream.)

Coming around to the next street, still in the suburban neighborhood, despite the short view of the metropolitan courtyard, I led them toward my car. Walking in that direction, I started to see bright flashes of light, coming from inside my car. It was as if a flare was burning, or someone had turned on a strobe light. All I could see was the light, and it bathed out anything and everything inside. Then, I could just barely make out a figure in the flashes. At first, I thought it was the man whom I'd shot, but when I got closer, I could see that it was Deadpool. He was making these really animated, cartoonish gestures in the back window, at us, between the flashes, and the first thought to enter my mind was that he was going to screw with the evidence and ruin my self-defense case.

Now running, frantically, toward the car, I actually yelled out: "No no no no...WHY IS DEADPOOL HERE?? WHY IS HE HERE??!" I reached out and tried to open the rear, driver's side door, but the door just burst open, throwing me back to the roadway. Deadpool instantly popped out, armed to the teeth. The squad of cops saw him and immediately engaged. An absolutely insane battle broke out, right there on the street, and Deadpool absolutely wrecked these police officers. Gunfire and swords and explosions and body parts were just flying about this tempestuous cloud of white smoke under the streetlights. Within the fray, it seemed like Deadpool actually had help, as there was clearly some other figure in the battle, helping him out. I was thinking it might have been Cable or Domino, but I never actually saw them.

Suddenly, the back of my car just exploded in the battle and was flung across the street, toward me. I was still halfway sitting on the ground, and I was so in shock at everything I was witnessing, that I didn't even bother to move. The whole trunk area of my car was about to slam into me with what could have only been lethal force. Then, just before impact, the hunk of metal stopped as if it had been caught, mid-flight. I'm not sure if it was Deadpool that caught it, or his ally, but Deadpool was soon standing right beside me and leaning down in my face, saying something like: "Hey, next time something like that happens...try moving out of the way," in his trademark, jokester fashion.

The last thing I remember is him walking away, nonchalantly telling me that it was His team that attempted the heist of the office where I had been working (back in the first dream). He said that they already knew about the trap we were springing (which is what made me believe the woman in the lab coat was Domino - though I remained unable to actually see who he was with, presently), and that they were still successful in stealing the company's weaponry, which were the weapons they were just using against the police.

(I've had many cases of the narrative of separate dreams weaving themselves in with each other, but this one was probably my favorite. Absolutely nuts. Lol. Also, I've been painting a picture of Domino, lately, as well as looking through some great Deadpool cosplays, which would explain why the characters were on my mind.)

"Beyond Batman" - 02/27/2007 (Lucid)

"Beyond Batman"
02/27/2007
Dream #2
(Lucid)

Had another DILD, last night. I vaguely remember a lot more happening, before all of this - which had something to do with Batman and Robin - but right now I can't be too sure about the events. What I do know is that my first real memory, of this dream, was of being crouched on a pillar, high over nighttime courtyard, of sorts, when I figured out I was dreaming. I remember how much more aware I felt, upon this realization, than in the past couple of DILDs I've had. I could feel myself getting giddy at the sensation. Haha.

The first thing I did was look at my hands; they had little pink and yellow spots all over them. Once I looked away, again, I couldn't believe how much more clear everything had gotten. It was like the entire dream world - which had seemed purely visual, only a moment ago - expanded to all five senses. I was now completely immersed in the dream - to a level that (even after having had so many lucids in my lifetime) astonished me. So much, was this feeling of wherewithal, that - realizing that I'd never actually experimented with taste, while dreaming (I don't even know if I've ever tasted anything in a non-lucid), I licked the back of my hand, impulsively. It tasted just like real skin - somewhat bland and coppery.

Looking around my surroundings, a bit more, I deduced that this park/courtyard belonged to some deviant organization or corporation, and I had been on a mission, before becoming lucid. I can't remember if I actually was Batman or not, but I immediately imagined how much fun swinging around on grappling hook would be. I held up my hand and looked across the way, to another high pillar. At first, I tried to make the hook and rope just shoot out of my hand but, when that didn't work, I figured I'd have to be a little more practical about it. I put my arm down to the side and imagined Batman's grappling gun. When I picked my hand back up, into my field of view, I was holding it. The transition was pretty effortless, and I pulled the trigger and launched a grappling across the gap.

I started swinging around, from pillar to pillar - landing; firing at another spot; and continuing to swing without the slightest fear of gravity. It was just as much fun as I thought it would be! At one point, though, I swung low enough for my feet touched the grass. This activated some kind of security system, equipped with lasers and machine guns. An unfamiliar woman came out of nowhere and, at first, was trying to detain me. Around this time, I feel that it dawned on me, what it was I was doing in this facility, in the first place, but I can't remember, now.

She was soon chasing me around this courtyard, shooting at me with some sort of electric gun-thing of her own. After a while, though, during our cat-and-mouse, we'd started exchanging some dialogue and, eventually, was actually helping me carry out whatever my mission was. The security system had turned on her, and we found ourselves high up, in this tower overlooking the courtyard, hiding from the gunfire that was trained on our position. She told me where [whatever it was I was looking for] was hidden - in the center of a group of columns that circled around, what looked like, some sort of large, metallic sculpture.

I didn't even let her finish talking - getting all antsy and excited, once again - and I just dove out of the tower window. I could hear her scream something like "No wait!!!" while I shot another grappling hook and swung downward, at an angle, landing sideways on one of the columns, kinda like Spider-Man (though I can't remember whether I was actually sticking to the wall or just hanging on). Unexpectedly, the metallic sculpture thing suddenly started whirring and moving. A long, rectangular portion swung upward, to one side, and then turned in my direction. Now, only about 10 feet away from the nearest end of this now-raised cylinder, I could see that and I was staring down the barrel of a enormous, high-tech cannon.

From above, the girl screamed something that implied she'd been trying to tell me it was a gun, but I don't remember what her outburst was. Immediately, I jumped off of the pillar I'd been perched on, just as it exploded from an explosive round fired from the cannon.

(There feels like a gap in my recall right around here, but afterward...) Next thing I know, the woman was flying a helicopter and I had shot a grappling line to the bottom of it and was hanging on while she carried us away from the facility. While hanging, my mind began wandering and I suddenly got the urge to experience being one of my original RP characters, which I've never done before in a dream. I dropped off of the rope, into free-fall, and landed softly on a high rooftop - which had really cool architecture, like a cathedral or something - and I was thinking about how to do this. I was kind of apprehensive about spinning a new scene, because I hadn't had much luck with it in the past, but I decided to try it anyway.

Standing up straight, upon the angular rooftop, I held out my arms and spun around as fast as I could. At first, I was just watching the world blur, but then, I closed my eyes and thought of being somewhere else, with the intention of turning into my character. Unfortunately, I also had fear of waking up, in the back of my head, and I think that's what caused me to wake up, instead.

"Skipping Class at DWA" - 02/25/2018 (Lucid)

“Skipping Class at DWA”
02/25/2018
Dream #2
(Lucid)

(I’d awoken at about 4am and was up for about 10 minutes, before laying back down. Remembering my intention to try to search for the DreamWorld Academy – a fun activity/project, that many of us at DV had done, for some time – I began to focus on the environment where I’d last seen it, in a previous lucid dream, which can be read, here. Sometimes we have light, ambient music playing through the night, but the room was quiet, aside from the sound of my girlfriend breathing. With this in my conscious mind, I focused on the sound of her breath, as well, and attempted to incubate her into the dream, as a dream character. After a short while, I fell back asleep, and initially had one dream about trying to get a drink from a leaky fridge. Then, I slipped into another…)

The first thing I remember was being on a waterfront ledge, with my girlfriend. It was set on the outskirts of a big city, and felt a lot like being down near the water of the Lincoln Memorial, when we took our D.C. trip, lately. While walking along the water, I realized that I was dreaming. I’m not quite sure what tipped me off, but I think I just realized that I didn’t know where I was. (What I didn’t realize, though, that the waterfront setting looked a lot like the area outside the DreamWorld Academy, the last time I saw it in a dream. If I would have looked around, with this knowledge, I likely would have found it, immediately. Instead, as is so often is the case when becoming lucid, I got sidetracked.)

I told this “projection” of my girlfriend that I was dreaming, and attempted to coax my subconscious into maintaining lucidity by telling Her to repeat that she was dreaming, over and over (which I often do, myself, to keep the awareness fresh in my mind). She started repeating it to herself and we continued to walk long the water. Coming to the edge of the platform upon which we were walking, I saw a small gap between us and the next platform, and decided to try to walk across the water. Not wanting to add any complications with getting her to follow me, I picked my girlfriend up and took a step off of the ledge, trying not to think about the softness of the water and touching down onto it. My feet sank just a few inches below the liquid, but I focused on forward motion and began to walk as if I was only in shin-deep water, though I could feel nothing between my feet. Soon, I’d floated my footsteps to the other side and flew up to land on the other platform. Before long, we were walking through the parking lot and I was trying to think of what else to do before I woke up. I thought that bike-riding could be a fun adventure in a lucid dream, but she protested and I didn’t want to sour the moment, so I decided we could go for a drive, instead, and just explore wherever the dream took us.

Next thing I knew, we were speeding down a highway. Night had turned into day, and there was a lot of traffic on the road. Immediately, I thought of the Matrix: Reloaded, and decided to have some freeway fun. Knowing that it would be too hard to keep track of my DC girlfriend, once the dream got busier, I left her sitting in the passenger seat and either phased up through the roof or called through the sunroof. (I can’t remember which.) Now, standing on the roof of the car, which was still speeding down the freeway, I lunged forward and hit the pavement running, super-speeding up the road and passing the cars in my way. Still thinking about the Matrix, my subconscious mind brought about chaos as the cars in front of me started crashing into each other and piling up. I attempted not to break stride and began jumping over them and dodging them while they flipped and spun my way, at one point running sideways along the bed of an 18-wheeler in order to avoid another wreck. Before me, I saw the two big rigs from the actual movie, slamming head-on into each other and causing the same, slow-mo explosion from the film. I jumped onto the bed of the nearest truck and then launched myself into the air, flying above the explosion and seeing a warped, surreal view of the cityscape as it dropped away, below me.

I don’t remember landing, but I was soon walking another city street, this time with lots of other people, doing their own thing. Lucidity was fading in and out, and I was beginning to just “go along” with the dream. Suddenly, a tall, light-skinned black guy with a bushy beard; a jacket and hoodie; and an obvious, “up-north” swagger stepped out of the crowd and walked up to me. Mysteriously, he said something about having to talk to me, later, and sifted back into the crowd. Still not quite sure of what my conscious state was, at this time, I soon found myself in a classroom. (I didn’t even realize that I’d been looking for the DW Academy, so the classroom went completely unnoted.) The same guy popped up, again, and I instantly became lucid, when I saw him. He stepped to me, again, and said something like “you ate it twice, in this dream” or “you did it twice in this dream.” (Something like that.) I really didn’t know what he was talking about but, intrigued, I asked him his name. Still talking like a hip, but nonchalant, New Yorker, he said his name was something like “Saultello, the Great.” I wrote it down on a notepad, in order to try and help in remembering it, once I woke up (which I often do. I don't remember the exact way I spelled it, but I believe it was "Saultello").

The scene changed (or there is a gap in my memory), and I remember sitting on a curb and talking to some old man. The sun was going down and everything was a dark orange hue. The man was rambling about something, but my lucidity kicked in again, and I instantly stopped paying attention to him. I realized that I’d been dreaming for a long time and started going back over my memories of everything that had happened, to keep them fresh in my mind until the dream faded and I woke up.

"Police Futility" - 01/22/2007 (Lucid)

”Police Futility”
01/22/2007
(Lucid)

(Awesome lucid dream. Unfortunately, I woke up at about 4 o’clock, after the dream, and didn’t get up to jot down any notes before falling back asleep, so I’ve forgotten a few things near the end. I woke up again, shortly after, though, so I was still able to retain quite a bit!)

So, T and I were on a road trip, somewhere. We stopped into a gas station, late at night, and I slightly remember making some small talk with a girl that was working there. It wasn't long, before we were back in the car and on the road again. Soon after, it was day time and we were driving down the interstate. I can’t remember what the reason was but, some time during our drive, a motorcycle cop pulled up behind us and turned on his lights. We pulled over - onto the left shoulder instead of the right - and parked on the wide, grass median, in the center of the two opposing flows of traffic.

The cop came over and started being a real prick. I think he was accusing us of smoking, or something, because he told us to wait over by his bike so he can search the car. While he was looking over the car, I start getting suspicious of things, but not enough to realize I’m dreaming. Then, right on cue, the cop said “Well, well. What is this?” and he pulled out my dream journal, which happened to be in a notebook. (Funny, because I don’t have a paper journal, IRL) Laughing while walking in our direction, he began thumbing through the journal and then, out of nowhere, just started ripping pages out of it, tearing them to pieces and throwing them all over the median. I was infuriated. So much so, that even as T was looking at the cop, I could practically hear him thinking “Oohh, you shouldn’t have done that.”

I don’t even remember what happened next but, the next thing I knew, the cop was lying on the ground, face down. It was right around here that I realized I was dreaming (however, I can’t remember if I became lucid and then took out the cop, or did it before. I think I took out the cop first, though. Anyway...). The second I realized I was dreaming, I looked at my hands - which were hard and dry - in order to stabilize the dream, repeating to myself “I’m dreaming, I’m dreaming,” to keep the thought fresh in my mind. T was looking quizzically at me, wondering what was going on. I told him that I was dreaming, but that we still needed to get out of here because I had a feeling our trouble with the cop wasn’t over. Just as I said that, the cop was beginning to slowly rise from the ground. Since he was between us and the car, I looked the other way and the first thing I saw was the police motorcycle. My eyes about lit up like a kid in a candy store.

I ran to the bike and told T to jump on. At first, I couldn’t get it started and the cop was then running toward us, closing the gap while I continuously tried to kick-start the bike (which is weird because police bikes don’t have kick-starts, that I know of). Finally, as the cop was just beginning to come in range, I got it started and we took off. I remember how short and stubby the handlebars felt as I was pushing up through the gears. In seconds, we were flying down the grassy median, closer to the oncoming lane than the correct one. Suddenly, looking at all the cars whizzing passed us, to the left, it dawned on me: I’ve always wanted to try this in a lucid dream...

Thinking of Trinity in The Matrix: Reloaded, I suddenly swerved into oncoming traffic, with the motorcycle, zig-zagging left and right as cars veered and skidded out of our way. Ah, man. One of the most insane things I’ve experienced in a LD and it seemed to last about 20 seconds or so, before I cut back across the median, to the right side. We kept on riding until we were back in our town (though it didn’t really seem like our town), pulling up in some unfamiliar apartment complex, where my mom apparently lived. My lucidity had begun flickering, during the ride but, as soon as I got inside the apartment, the first thing I did was focus on my hands again and repeat “I’m dreaming, I’m dreaming,” bringing my lucidity, and the scene around me, into much more clarity.

My DC mom was getting ready for a party, and my aunt and some other relatives were about to come over. I was still thinking about the whole cop thing and was wondering if we’d seen the last of them. T suddenly got a call on his cell phone, which was this really futuristic pocket computer sort of thing. We thought it might have been the cops, but it was someone in his family. A few moments later, the apartment phone rang. Mom picked it up and then called me over to take the call. I picked up and, this time, it was the police. I recognized the voice and, to be specific, it was Morgan Freeman. (Lol.) He told me, calmly, that the entire complex was now crawling with SWAT and that my friend and I needed to come out and turn ourselves in, before we made things worse for ourselves – in all his typical, soothing, Freeman-esque nature. I found this hilarious, though, seeing as how I was now 100% lucid again, and figured it was time to have some more fun.

As we were heading out of the apartment, I was talking to T, coaching him on how he was just a DC and we both had “lucid abilities,” in hopes that he was going to be able to do all the things I could do, as it would make what was about to happen all the more interesting. He got the picture, and we both started walking downstairs. He was walking in front of me and kept going, even after I stopped, halfway down the last set of stairs. I glanced over to one side and saw Morgan Freeman standing in the hallway, dressed like his detective character in Se7en and facing away from me (while I was still slightly faced away from him), as if we were two arch-enemies in some gritty anime thriller that were having their last civil conversation, before completely obliterating each other. I can’t remember exactly what he was saying, though. Finally, I came down the rest of the stairway and turned to face him. He, himself, was walking toward me.

I started walking backward in the hallway, while we were still talking, backing myself out toward the field that was in front of the apartment complex. While doing this, I was telling him that I wasn’t worried about him, or the rest of the SWAT team (whom I could see surrounding the field, out of the corner of my eye) because I knew I was dreaming. I tried to warn him that he really didn’t want to start a fight with us. (The irony of trying to show a DC mercy isn't lost on me. Lol.) He wasn’t buying it, though, and was his cool, calm, collected self - dismissing my words as psychotic banter, of course. I looked back, behind me, and saw T standing in the field, waiting. When I turned back to Detective Freeman, I gave him a smile and suddenly began levitating backward, with my arms rising out to the sides. I said something smart, like “Suit yourself,” and his face twisted in subtle surprise. Hovering backward, passing Tony, I glanced over to him and said something like “You ready, man?” He said “Yup,” and suddenly levitated into the air, as well. Jesus, did we ever show off!

We started flying around this huge field, watching the SWAT stand by and stare at us in awe. Neighbors started coming out onto their decks and balconies, and we could hear them gasping and shouting. Pretty soon, we had the attention of everyone in the complex. I hovered passed one balcony and actually saw my ex and her husband (which isn’t that strange because they are, more or less, the only people I know that live in an apartment complex, at the moment) and they were actually cheering us on. Now, in mid-air, I held up one finger and focused, slinging my hand out as a bright orange streak shot out of my finger and exploded, down on the ground, though I wasn’t aiming for anything in particular. Taking the cue, T began doing the same thing, and we started firing energy blasts in all directions. My purpose, really, was to see if I could get all the DC cops to run away screaming, as I hadn’t really planned on slaughtering them. Some ran. Others didn’t. I did end up shooting one guy in the chest and he just exploded. The rest of the SWAT guys standing close to him only stood there like statues, though.

I redirected my attention to their cars and started blowing them up, one by one. Eventually, I’d begun thinking less and less of the cops surrounding us, and I was just caught up in how much fun I was having, using these powers. I wanted to try something else. Something Big. I looked up at the sky and was reminded of the Hammer of Dawn (a huge satellite laser, from the game Gears of War, which I played for the first time, this weekend). I held my hands up to the sky, focusing hard on how to make this work. Visualizing this beam of light, I saw the clouds above begin to swirl, funneling just a moment before spreading slowly outward from the center of rotation. It had been near sundown and the sky was already growing dark, so it was so much easier to see the bright white ball of light growing in the heavens. As soon as I figured it was well-enough developed, I swung my hands down toward the earth, as if I was pulling the light down from the sky with my fingers. A bright red-orange beam exploded down out of the sky, a few miles behind the apartment complex. I heard it hit the ground, in the distance, and saw the top end of a massive explosion budding up, over the tops of the apartment building in front of me. I remember trying this at least twice, before waking up into a false awakening, where Tony and I were telling our friend JL about the ordeal we'd just been in.

Eventually, the retelling of the situation actually influenced the dream into dissolving back into the same scenario. Before I knew it, T and I were right back to battling the cops, in the apartment complex. This time, though, I wasn't lucid, and the narrative just carried me through the rest of the dream (which was much harder to remember, after I'd lost lucidity).
